St Timothy's School Vermont 2023

Term 3 Week 10 2023

All students at St Timothy's School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is the responsibility of all within our school.

It is with great sadness that I share that Anne - Maree Noonan's mum Pamela passed away on Tuesday. Pamela had a love of nature, particularly her garden and the beautiful birds it attracted. She loved Spring when all her colourful bulbs would sprout after the winter.

It is easy to see where Anne - Maree developed her passion for nature.

Pamela fulfilled her wish for a wonderful restful cruise over the last few months which brought her great happiness.

Please keep Anne-Maree and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

CAMP AUSTRALIA and Beyond EduCare

Unfortunately Camp Australia have withdrawn their services from St Timothy's . We thank them for their many years of Out of School Hours Care. Next term we welcome Beyond EduCare as our provider.  Over the break they will send further details to families previously enrolled about procedures for booking care for Term 4. Currently the demand is for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday  afternoons, so Out of Hours care will be provided on those days. Hopefully with demand the service will grow.  If you would like to contact their team their email is: admin@beyondcare.com,au and the Director- Shayan can be contacted directly on 0478 746 424

Celebrate the Learning

I was very proud of the marvellous samples of work that were displayed at our Celebrate the Learning showcase. I hope your child was able to further explain their learning to you, using their work as prompts. Staff would like to thank the children and parents  for attending this event and they hope you enjoyed seeing your child's work displayed.

I would like to thank the Learning Support staff, teachers and Gail for the huge amount of work needed to  ensure such a fabulous display.

R U OK?

R U OK is a day to remember to make it an everyday habit of checking with friends, family, colleagues and community, if they are ok and really listen and respond to both vernal and no verbal cues. We want to make it a time that individuals can be confident to express how they are really feeling in a safe environment.

Our aim is to form strong community bonds so we are tuned in to the needs of others and offer support.

Thanks to Jessi for making these wonderful R U Ok biscuits to share with children, staff and parents.

Congratulations

Parish Newsletter Saturday 16th September & Sunday 17th September

This gospel passage follows directly from last week’s passage. It concludes the whole of Matthew Chapter 18 that deals with sin, forgiveness and reconciliation. Peter’s question to Jesus and suggested answer is a reflection of the view that there is a limit to the number of times we should forgive someone. Seven is a significant number in scripture and implies a ‘perfect’ amount. Even though by his use of seven, Peter is suggesting that he should forgive someone many, many times, Jesus quickly corrects Peter and says not seven, but seventy-seven times (or seventy times seven). Jesus plays on the use of the number seven and multiplies it to indicate that one should forgive as many times as is required – without keeping count; without keeping score. The story of the unforgiving servant is a familiar one of forgiveness and mercy being shown but not passed on. The sting in the tail of this parable is Jesus’ final warning that, ‘So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart.’ This is an unsettling statement, as we believe God’s forgiveness to be without measure and without end. Jesus warns that unless we seek to imitate God’s forgiveness and forgive others ‘from our heart’ (with compassion) then we are not going to recognise the forgiveness of God and will cut ourselves off from it. The whole idea of forgiving from the heart is a powerful contradiction of a popular concept: ‘I can forgive, but not forget.’ Is it really possible to forgive but refuse to forget? Surely holding on to a memory of hurt is holding on to the hurt itself and does not display that any forgiveness has occurred at all. To forgive but not forget is to keep count. How many times should I  forgive the one who has hurt me? As many times as it takes!
