Principal's Report

Hello everyone,

I cannot believe we are at our second last newsletter for the year! We have an enormously busy last week and a half so below will be a run down of the upcoming events along with all the important details that go with them. This is a bit of a long Principal’s Report but please do read through it, there is a lot of important information in it.

Last night we held our Grade 6 Graduation. This was a lovely evening that included dinner for the graduation class up at the Trading Post, as always Brad put on a wonderful meal and was the best host. We then held our Graduation ceremony with parents, this included speeches and songs from the students along with a presentation of their Graduation Certificates.

Today we held our State-wide transition morning. All students spent the morning in their 2024 classrooms and spent time with the classmates and teacher/s they will be working with next year. The staffing structure for 2024 will be as follows:

·        Foundation: Rebecca Bowen

·        Grade 1/2: Geni Krajewski

·        Grade 2/3: Jessica Probert

·        Grade 3/4: Ben Sonogan (3 days a week) and Laura Wenczel (2 days a week)

·        Grade 5/6: Joe Flynn (Replacement for terms 1 & 2 TBC)

·        Wellbeing/Inclusion Coordinator – Olivia Desormeaux (2 days per week)

·        Art – Rowena Glenister

·        Music – Laura Wenczel

·        Digital Technology – Daniel Garcia

·        Japanese – Sharyn Morrice

·        STEM – Ben Sonogan

·        Tutoring – Helen Burgess

·        Reading support – Little Learners Love Literacy program – Vicki Bryant

·        Integration Aide – Catherine Noone

·        Business Manager – Amy Crosbie

Wednesday 13th December: Christmas Carols. Tomorrow night everyone is invited down to Tony Clarke reserve for this year’s Christmas Carols. MMPS is performing from 6:30PM, this is not a compulsory event but the more voices we can get there on the night, the better! It is always a lovely celebration of this time of year.

Thursday 14th December: Grade 6 Exhibition. Our Grade 6s are holding their Exhibition on Thursday. The school library will be open from 1:30PM – 3:30pm and 6:00pm – 7:00pm for parents to come and visit and see all the hard work the Grade 6s have put into their final piece of work in their primary school journey.

Friday 15th December: Final Assembly & Parent Morning Tea. Our final assembly of the year will be held on Friday morning from 9:00am. Each class will be singing a Christmas Carol and we will bid farewell to students, families and staff that are moving on to new and exciting adventures. We will be holding a Parent Morning Tea afterwards in the school library to say thank you for all of the support we have received over the year.

Friday also sees the funeral for John Ewels being held at 2:00pm at Middle Gully Reserve. As John was such an important piece of the MMPS history we are currently organising for CRT coverage to allow staff to attend. If you would like to take your child home after assembly you are more than welcome as it will be a slightly altered finish to the day.

Monday 18th December: Picnic at Hanging Rock. Monday sees us all heading over to Hanging Rock for a lovely picnic and visit from Santa! We will be leaving school from around 9:30am and you are more than welcome to come along. A note will go home tomorrow and all information is up on QKR!

Wednesday 20th December: Final Day of School. School will be finishing at 1:30PM on our last day with the Grade 6s meeting to ring the school bell to symbolise their final bell of primary school and their moving on to secondary school.

What a report!! Please take the time to come and get in touch if you have any questions or concerns regarding our final week of 2024!

Thanks, Joe.

Hello and welcome to the last article of the year!

What an exciting year it's been, but it’s not over yet.  Here is a small list of things coming up!

Last night Year 6 had graduation night at the trading post.  Everyone looked awesome and we all enjoyed ourselves.  At the end, our parents came and listened to a speech by each student and a slideshow about our years at MMPS, speeches by the teachers and our graduation song.

At the very end the parents got coffee, tea and cakes. The grade 6s ran around outside while the parents talked.

Today we will have transitions for the grades prep to grade 5.  Make sure to ask your kids about it!

On Wednesday we will have Carols by Candlelight where families come to talk, eat and sing. You can bring your own picnic but there is food there like ice cream.

And on Thursday the grade 6s have their exhibition, everyone is excited and nervous. They will be showcasing their hard work and strategies from their years of learning.  The exhibition topic is inventions that will solve problems.

Macedon & Mt Macedon Carols by Candlelight

Our Carols are fast approaching and you may have heard your children singing their songs around the house as they prepare for their performance. We are performing as part of the community carols along with local performers and Macedon Primary School at Tony Clarke reserve. This is not a school organised event and parents/guardians are responsible for their own children on the night.

The event starts at 5.30 with a sausage sizzle, ice cream truck and coffee truck with the official starting time for the carols at 6.30.

We require all children who are performing to be there by 6.30 ready to perform. Our school is performing three songs on the night.

Children are not required to wear school uniform for the event but are asked to wear a Santa hat or headband if they would like to.

Bring along a picnic rug or chairs and a picnic or purchase food on the night. This is always a lovely event for the Macedon and Mount Macedon community and there may even be a special visitor in red who will be joining the festivities! We hope to see you all there.

5.30pm with carols starting at 6.15pm
