Welcome back to Term 2!
Term 1 was action-packed, with two weeks of swimming lessons, class excursions, the Easter break, and Sports Day (well, half of it!). A highlight was meeting many families at our Family Connection Meetings early in the term and at Learning Conversations at the end. We truly appreciate parents taking part in these events, as working together helps support your child’s learning.
This term, we are pleased to welcome several new students and staff members to our school. We’re excited to have Alinta, Bree, and Billie join us as SSOs.
Learning Conversations
At Kapunda Primary School, we launched Learning Conversations as a new way to hold Parent/Teacher Interviews, with a stronger focus on both academic and social-emotional progress. Teachers worked in year level teams to adjust these conversations to suit each child’s age and needs. Students in the middle and upper years were also more involved in talking about their learning.
Although each year level ran the Learning Conversations a bit differently, the content and quality were consistent across the school. These meetings helped strengthen our partnership with families and made sure we’re all working together for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
To help us keep improving, we would like your feedback. Even if you couldn’t attend, your ideas will help us make them better and more accessible for everyone. Please use the link or QR code below to complete a short, anonymous survey—it only takes a few minutes.

Open Classroom Afternoon
We are excited to invite all families to our Open Classroom Afternoon on Tuesday, 2 June, from 2:20–3:10pm. During this time, teachers will introduce some learning activities, and the families will be able to join in some learning activities with their child. Students will also be able to show their SMART goals to their families—there is more information about SMART goals attached to this newsletter.
If you have more than one child at the school, you are welcome to move between classrooms during the afternoon. We kindly ask that you wait until 2:20pm to enter so students are ready. On the day, you will also receive ideas for activities you can do at home to support your child’s learning.
If you can’t make it to the Open Classroom Afternoon, your child’s teacher will send home the activities and a copy of your child’s SMART goal so you can still support their learning.
