Term 2 Week 8 & Week 9 - 16th - 27th June 2025

Principal's Blog

Welcome to Term 2, Week 8 2025

Make My Day!

I am excited to share that the past fortnight has been truly wonderful! I have had the privilege of visiting classrooms and welcoming students who have eagerly shared their work with me. It’s heartwarming to see the pride that both students and their teachers have in their accomplishments.

These moments are the highlight of my day, as they reflect the hard work and dedication of our students.

2M - The students of 2M had to write another paragraph to continue on the story 'Capture the Treasure'. They had to write what happened next when Mr Sugar entered the Cafe in the morning and saw the mess the birds had made. 2M were really engaged in the lesson and excited to write their own endings.

K/1P - Kindergarten have been learning about how to represent teen numbers, while Year 1 have been learning about place value with 3-digit numbers.

K6F - This week, our class worked on writing clear and correct sentences. Students practised using different types of sentences to improve their writing. Well done everyone!

Starstruck

Congratulations to the staff and students who participated in Starstruck this year! The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Starstruck is always a spectacular event, and we are thrilled that our students had the opportunity to be a part of this experience. A special thank you to our dedicated teachers, Ms. Tonks and Miss Brewster, for their hard work and support in making this event a success!

Spelling Bee

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Spelling Bee finals! Speaking in front of peers can be a daunting task, and spelling words on the spot is no easy feat. We are incredibly proud of each participant for their effort

A special shoutout to our winners: Jackson C from Stage 2 and Amity D from Stage 3.

Athletics Day

We will be hosting our 3-6 athletics carnival at Baxter Oval on Wednesday 18th June 2025. Students from 3-6, along with eligible Year 2 students, will be transported to the event. K-2 will participate in their own carnival early next term.

New OSHC Provider Partnership

We are excited to announce our partnership with an independent Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) provider, TheirCare. To help parents learn more about this new service, TheirCare will be hosting an information session via Teams on Wednesday, June 25th, 2025. Details and a flyer with the meeting information can be found in this newsletter.

Spelling Bee Finals

A big congratulations to all our amazing spelling bee contestants!

We’re so proud of everyone who stepped up to the mic and gave it their best. Special shoutout to our champions: Jackson for winning the Stage 2 competition and Amity for taking the crown in Stage 3!

Well done, super spellers!

Starstruck

Congratulations to our Starstruck performers for their amazing effort and dedication to learning and performing the dances.  We are very proud of you all!

Grow Your Mind

Another important Grow Your Mind concept to look after our mental health is Shark vs. Dolphin thoughts.  We are faced with many situations each day and it is vital we use our OWL and ELEPHANT to help us make wise decisions.

For example, you make a mistake on your work.

A shark thought is a harmful thought about yourself. You can challenge this thinking with dolphin thoughts. These are an optimistic way of thinking.

“Everyone makes mistakes, we learn from our mistakes”

“I have the confidence to try again”

“I can ask someone for help”

If you have a Shark thought how will you turn it into a Dolphin thought?

·         Effect of the student's disability makes the school take action to meet their learning needs by making reasonable changes.

·         Evidence that the student received adjustments for at least 10 weeks during the school year before the NCCD Census Day.
