Attendance
Congratulations to 3/4 Possums and 1/2 Kangaroos for outstanding attendance at school so far this term. We award a class with the highest weekly attendance rate a HERO (Here Everyday Ready Ontime ready to learn) certificate.
Even though we reward positive attendance habits at school, we encourage families to keep children at home if they are feeling unwell, ensuring they also provide the school with an explanation for their child’s absence. Each student should strive to be above 90% attendance (less than 20 days away each year), but being above 95% attendance (less than ten days away each year) is where great learning and positive school outcomes occur. Also, please note that if your child is not at school but representing the school at extra-curricular events, for example, chess competitions, excursions, and sports, these are recorded as school business and not as an absence.
Stay well, everyone; we know there’s more than enough sickness going around.
Staff Professional Learning
Ms Mullins and I will attend a Work Health and Safety course in Wagga to prepare our school for Emergency Management Planning, an essential aspect of all school environments for students and staff.
Miss Hemphill and Mrs Pontt travelled to Wagga to collaborate with other teachers at the annual Riverina Learning and Support Conference.
Next week, all staff at Holbrook Public School will be participating in professional Learning run by Teagan Sawyer from the Albury Learning and Support team around Understanding Behaviour. This professional learning will provide an overview of the legislation, department policies, and priorities that underpin behaviour support. The training also looks at appropriate and inappropriate behaviour, factors that influence behaviour, and what age-typical behaviour looks like. Staff will be able to build strategies to respond to more challenging behaviours.
Sport
I want to thank Miss Hemphill for organising and running a successful athletics carnival last week at the Les O’Brien Athletics Precinct. It was great to see so many students competing in track and field events and achieving PBs (personal bests) in many different events. I would also like to thank all the school’s parents, families, and friends who supported our staff and students by coordinating age groups and assisting with events, and the fantastic P&C who coordinated a barbecue on the day. Without your support, we cannot run these events and provide excellent opportunities for our students. This is something I cherish about being a part of Holbrook Public School – the whole school community!
I wish all our students competing at the Riverina Cross Country next week all the best. I know you will represent our school well, compete hard and show great sportsmanship.
Kindergarten 2024
If you have a child starting Kindergarten in 2024 or know someone else who does, now is the time to start planning. We love receiving enrolments, either online (click on the link in this newsletter) or on paper (accessible through the office), so we can begin building relationships and connections with students and families. If you have any questions or want to visit our school, please get in touch with the office on 6036 2021.
P&C Meeting
The next P&C meeting will be in the school library or via Zoom on Wednesday, 21 June, at 7:30 p.m. All parents and citizens are welcome to attend.
