St Mary's Bulletin

Term 2 - Week 5 (30th May, 2025)

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life." (John 3:16).

Long Weekend

Many families are taking the chance to travel away this long weekend. I wish you all safe passage and hope all enjoy this chance to create great family memories.

Assembly

It was fantastic to see a big crowd at this morning’s assembly. We all enjoyed Ms Della Bosca’s Yr 4/5 item. Special thanks also to Miss Rodio and Mrs Gearing for their work in preparing the class.

P&F

The P&F Meeting that was scheduled for later in the term has unfortunately been cancelled. Our next P&F Meeting will be held in Term Three, on the 4th of August. Everyone is welcome to attend.

School Review

The QCESR document is available to view in its entirety OR you can continue to read excerpts as I put it in the newsletter each week. If you’d like a full copy, please let the office know and we’ll email you one.

Awards

Information for all Parents and students regarding End of Year Awards is provided below:

The Mary McKillop Award will be awarded to a child from each class who displays the school motto of “Doing Ordinary Things Extraordinarily Well”

This child may display the following criteria:

·         Treats all equally

·         Is consistent in their aptitude to their school work

·         Goes out of their way to help others

·         Is respectful

·         Engages easily with others

·         Is socially aware and just

·         Essentially, this person is what we want a child from St Mary’s to be like – living their lives based on our school values and motto.

Friendly Reminder

Could we ask that parents/visitors please refrain from parking on South Avenue after school as people coming out of the front carpark are experiencing difficulties getting clear vision to exit safely.

Cross Country

We had our final C.C. training session on Thursday. Thank you to Mrs Crees and the other staff who got to school early to help train the children. And once again: thank you to the merry band of mums who cooked the toast and boiled the hot milo; it was a massive hit with the children!

School Review Feedback

“Teaching and support staff who spoke to the QCESR panel were passionate about teaching and ensuring they were engaging the students and are aware of the students who present to them each day. The staff have a desire to be the best they can be to engage the students in their care. This was supported by the students who were selected as data sources.”

God Bless

World of Maths Incursion

On Tuesday our Pre-Primary to Year Six students were treated to a hands on session from the team at World of Maths. The team encourages students to work together, and engage as a team to discuss strategies to help them develop problem solving skills so they can build confidence in their maths abilities. The students were given a number on hands-on activities to complete, which had many benefits to the students. Not only did they reinforce maths concepts , they encouraged participation, boosted confidence and sparked a love of learning.  The students were engaged and had a wonderful time.

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre

Spare parts Puppet Theatre came to St Mary's on 29th May to offer digital puppetry workshops for Years 4 to 6. Students got to use a custom-built iPad app and hand-tracking technology to design and control digital puppets. They used the iPads to take photos of surfaces and textures to incorporate into their final puppet. Spare Parts presenters lead the students with a focus on bringing storytelling to life through the combination of puppetry and digital tools.

WWC Check Campaign

We recently launched our latest “Have you checked?” campaign to encourage parents and guardians to sight and validate the Working with Children (WWC) Check of any self-employed individual they engage to provide children’s entertainment or party services.

To complement the campaign, we will be holding a free online information session for parents on Wednesday 11 June at 12:30pm.
