Letter from the Deputy Principal, Ursula DeCorrado

Introduction

Dear Families,

It was great to see the creativity and sense of fun amongst staff and students as everyone dressed up for this year’s Book Week celebration.

Book Week is a great opportunity for us to immerse ourselves further in rich literature, as well as celebrate our favourite stories, characters, authors and illustrators.

Congratulations to everyone who joined in and celebrated a love of reading and books.

Father's Day Stall - Tuesday August 29th

Dad’s the secret!! Our P & F team is busy preparing this year’s Father’s Day Stall for Tuesday 29th August.  Students are able to purchase tokens in preparation for the Father’s Day Stall. We thank the P & F team for their work behind the scenes in preparing some great gifts for our fathers.

Father's Day Breakfast

We would like to celebrate the special men in our children’s lives.  On Thursday 31st August we invite our special men to join their child/ren for breakfast in our school hall.  Breakfast will be available from 8am and then classrooms will be open for you to join in for our morning prayer and activity.

Please RSVP to the invitation sent via Operoo ASAP.

District Athletics

Exciting times ahead as our Year 3-6 students prepare to participate in the District Athletics Carnival at Knox Athletics Track, Bunjil Way, Knoxfield on Thursday 31st August. Families are requested to respond to the Operoo form to assist with confirmation of numbers on the day.

A number of additional practice sessions have been scheduled by Mr Mitchell.  Students wishing to attend these are most welcome. We ask that you confirm your attendance through Operoo.

We look forward to a fun day of athletics competition. We know that our students will represent themselves and SJB school in an exemplary manner.  Good luck everyone!!

MACSSIS Surveys

MACSSIS surveys will be emailed home this week to 70 randomly selected families.  We ask that you look out for an email from ORIMA research which will contain the link to access the survey.  Your login details will be sent in a separate email from our school.

Our community’s opinions are critical to understanding how our school is performing – MACSSIS is a key data source so please take the time to complete the survey so that the thoughts and opinions of our whole school community can be used in guiding the ongoing work to improve our school.

If you would like more information, please contact the school.

Prep 2024 Enrolments Overdue

Enrolments for Prep 2024 are now overdue. Any families still wishing to enrol for next year are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.

Finalising Prep numbers is an important aspect of our forward planning.

Community Help - Seeking Sign Installation Expertise

With the installation of new gates, along with recognition that the school site has numerous entry points we have purchased a number of new signs. These signs provide clarity for the community and service providers as to which entry point to use when entering the school.

We are seeking the expertise of any parents who would be able to install the signs at various points across the school.  If you are able to assist please contact Ursula De Corrado via email at:
