Principals Report

Intensive Swimming

We finally finished the intensive swimming program on Tuesday 27th June. Congratulations to all the participants. Even though there were a few disruptions to the program everyone improved their skills. Certificates will be handed out early next term. Thank you to Julia who organised and ran the program.

Expression of interest

Congratulations to Trish Hepburn was successful in getting the position of School Administrative Officer (SAO) through the expression of interest. She will start in the office in week one of next term.

Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction

Unfortunately no applications for the Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction (AP C&I) position were successful in getting to interview. An expression of interest for AP C&I position will sent out early next term for the relieving position.

Reports

Term 2 reports are finished. Everyone should have received their reports yesterday via email. If you have not received one, please let the office know, so we can check we have the correct email address. I encourage everyone to take the time to read it as it gives a good snapshot of what your child has accomplished over the first 6 months this year towards their PLP goals.

Disco

On Thursday 29th June the students participated in the PBL whole school reward disco. The students enjoyed “dressing up” and dancing along to just dance and other songs.

Principal RAP Award Party

Today 15 students who earned the most RAP awards in Term 2 came to the Principal RAP Award Party. The students had fun playing party games and they each received a party bag to take home.

PLP Reviews

PLP review meetings will be held in weeks 3-6 next term. Notes will be going home early next term outlining what day your child’s PLP will be scheduled. If you would like therapists or other specialists to be present at the meeting, please contact them and let them know the day and time.

NAIDOC Week Activities

Havenlee School will be celebrating NAIDOC week activities in early Term 3. More information will go home to everyone on the first day of Term 3.

Have a safe and relaxing holiday

Weeks 7-10- Safe ‘When I use business talk’

In weeks 7-10 of this term the PBL focus is safe and students following safe directions.
Explicit lessons are being taught in classrooms, these include initiating communication, responding to a cue, making a choice between 2, 3 and an array and staying on task.
Using business talk can be demonstrated in morning circle, classroom activities, office jobs, work crews and in assembly.
PBL tickets are given out to students using business talk.

Student Wellbeing Chat

It’s the holidays already! We have had a busy term finding new ways to play, share and learn together.

The students at Havenlee enjoyed being creative and having fun in the winter sun. We kept warm with a round of a game we called Holy Cow! It was a hit with all age groups.

I hope you all have a well-earned break these holidays.
