Welcome to Term 3 Week 4!
Education Week
Education Week is an annual celebration of NSW public education and the achievements of our schools, teachers and students. Education Week will be held next week from 18th – 22nd August
This year CBPS will be celebrating both Education Week and Book Week next week. We are also including an amazing School Art Show.
Next week we will be celebrating on Tuesday 19th with our Book Character Parade, open classrooms, Book Fair and the Art Show. Parents, families and carers are invited to come along and join in this awesome event with us.
NAIDOC Week
Last week saw our school come together to recognise and celebrate NAIDOC Week. This year was the 50th year anniversary of NAIDOC events in Australia. Mrs Chensee, Mr Josh and Miss Ray came together to organise two amazing assemblies and activities throughout this week where our students could hear stories, see art, listen to music, and share learning that honours the rich cultures, deep histories, and incredible contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
As part of our NAIDOC celebrations, I am pleased to share that we have made a connection with the Nyikina Mangala Community school. Nyikina Mangala Community School sits within the Jarlmadangah Burru Aboriginal community, located on Mt Anderson Station, west of Derby, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. We are currently planning some fund-raising events to raise money for a sail to cover an outdoor learning space at the school. One of our fundraisers included our gold coin donation for an out of uniform day last Wednesday.
I wish to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of our Aboriginal parents, families and staff from both CBPS, SHS and others. Your partnership, wisdom & ongoing support deeply enrich our school community. Whether through cultural guidance, leadership or connection with country & community you help shape a more inclusive & respectful environments for all.
