JERSEY DAY is on Friday September 1st, 2023.
On Friday, 1st September, 2023 schools and workplaces across Australia are asked to allow students and employees to wear their favourite sporting jersey to school or work to show their support for the DONATE LIFE network and begin the conversation with their friends and families about Organ Donation.
JERSEY DAY has been inspired by the story of NATHAN GREMMO who was tragically lost in an accident in May 2015. Nathan’s family chose to give the gift of life to others to honour the legacy of Nathan’s generous personality.
JERSEY DAY is the perfect opportunity to start a discussion with your loved ones about organ donation. Organ donation can save the lives of many people. Around 1,850 Australians are currently waitlisted for a transplant.
To become an organ donor, you need to join the Australian Organ Donor Registry. State based driver’s license donor registries no longer exist.
In Australia, family members will always be asked to confirm the decision of organ donation. That is why discussing your decision with family and friends is so important.
You can register your decision to donate via jerseyday.com.au. It takes less than a minute to register.
This campaign is all about raising awareness. Simply wear your favourite sporting jersey to school or work on Friday 1st September and show your support for this cause.
There is NO donation of money on this day.
