It has been lovely to see so many happy and excited students back at school over the last two weeks. I have been able to spend much time in classrooms and in the yard getting to know students and reconnecting after the break. I have very much enjoyed being part of the learning and classroom activities. Thanks for working with class teachers and school staff to make the start of the year a positive one.
Acquaintance night was held on Tuesday night and was a very successful and positive evening. We had many families come back to school in the evening to visit classrooms, take the time to chat with teachers and be toured around the school by their young people. Acquaintance night is a great way to connect with teachers and share in your child’s excitement about their new class. Thank you to all who were able to come along.
If you have not yet noticed, our new mural has been installed on the Parsons Road side wall of the canteen. We are very proud of the work that our students undertook last year with Violet Buckskin, and are excited to be able to share this with the community. There are some photos further down in the newsletter for your interest.
At the end of last year, we were successful in winning a grant to upgrade our cricket pitch/centre wicket on the oval. This redevelopment work will begin next week, and will mean that the oval will be out of action for a few days. This is very exciting for our school, and that students will have access to a much newer and safer cricket pitch. I am sure this will provide hours of activity for our students.
The road works on Karingal Road are continuing, and I ask for your patience during peak school times. We encourage you to use the school crossing on Parsons Road for safe and easy access to the school while the road works are continuing. It has been great to chat to many of you at the crossing each day.
We are currently finalising Pupil Free Days and other major dates for the school year, and information will be sent home as soon as the dates as soon as we are able. We are anticipating that we will be able to finalise these next week.
The Governing Council will be holding the Annual General Meeting for 2024 on Tuesday February 27 at 7pm in the staffroom. Further information about the role of Governing Council, including a link to register attendance, nominate to become a member of Governing Council or nominate to be on a committee will be sent home via Audiri tomorrow. Governing Council is a great way to connect with leadership, meet others, share your ideas and support the school. We usually meet twice per term at 7pm on a Tuesday evening. Please keep an eye out for the information.
