Monday 17th March 2025 Term 1 Week 8

From the Principal

Student Success:

Congratulations to Bayah who has been selected to be part of the Hunter hockey team! Bayah will compete at the state championships later this year. Well done to some of our SHINE students who participated in the Come and Try athletics day on Friday. They had an enjoyable day.

NAPLAN:

Well done to our Year 3 and 5 students who have been sitting the NAPLAN tests this week and last week. The students have been cool, calm and collected as they complete the tests. The testing period ends next Monday. Results will be back later in the year.

Occupational Therapist and Got It:

We are lucky to have two great programs running in our school this term. We have partnered with Newcastle University to provide occupational therapy screenings and sessions for our K-2 students and the Got It Program for selected families in K – 2. Both programs are supportive programs to support students and parents with their child’s educational journey.

P&C roles:

Congratulations to our new P&C executive! Steve Leonard, Megan Thornton, Mary Burck and Peter Kretschmer have been re-elected for 2025. Congratulations! Thank you also to Hollie Summers who has taken on the fundraising coordinator role and Kim Harding as the uniform shop coordinator. There are two current vacant positions that will hopefully be filled at the next meeting. If you are interested in joining the P&C executive, please come along to the next meeting. A massive thank you to our outgoing president Aaron Jones who has been a wonderful support for our school. We thank him for his time and effort in running the P&C for the last two years.

Disco:

Our first P&C disco of the year will be held on Tuesday 25th March. Please see the flyer for details.  If you are wanting to help out at the disco, please contact the office prior to Friday this week to ensure your name is on the volunteer list.

Kinder Parent Meeting:

During the K-2 disco, there will be a meeting for Kinder parents to discuss home reading and have any questions answered about the kindergarten program. I encourage all kinder parents to attend.

Harmony Day:

This Friday is Harmony Day. To celebrate, students can wear orange or a hint of orange to school on Friday.
