Fireworks 2024 was Awesome!!!

A huge thank you to the amazing teams of community and school volunteers for all your support with our Fireworks Event for 2024. We truly did light up the sky together! The wonderful food served by each and every volunteer was delicious. The rides were, as always, super fun. The brilliant stores were thriving throughout the entire event. Bev Gorey was busy from beginning to end at Fairy Floss. Such a wonderful night of fun and excitement. To end it all was the brilliant and dazzling display of event fireworks.

A special thank you goes to the organising committee for the hard work and dedication to the 2024 Fireworks.

The event team are heading towards finalising details of how successful the event was in 2024, however for this wonderful experience to continue we will need new people to take over the reigns of the event. We do have some flexibility in a re-vamp to make it more manageable moving into 2025. Please let the school or existing coordinators know if you are interested in being a part of this great event.

Farewell Mrs Winslet!!

Today, we farewell Mrs Winslet!!

Mrs Winslet is leaving North for the remainder of the school year. Whilst away she will be engaging in further study at University, and also do some work side by side with Kathryn Young at SISU - Guiding Abilities in Children.

We look forward to hearing about your new experiences as the year goes by.

School Contact Guide

There are many times that you may need to contact the school to discuss things. The best contact to start this process is your child's Classroom Teacher and your child's Team Leader. The guide enclosed is a digital copy of the paper copy sent home at the commencement of term. This guide will be frequently updated with names of new staff and staff associated with your child's stage of learning.

Please contact the school by either calling or email, outline your needs and we will ensure that the right member of staff is passed on the details so they can connect directly with you.

Arrival at School

Our daily school supervision begins at 8.40am. We have members of staff on active supervision from this time. However, whilst we have the gates open from an early hour, we have seen an increase in students arriving at school earlier than 8.40am.

We are now beginning to see students arriving at school at 8am.

We ask our community to not send your children until 8.40am, when staff begin supervision. Before this time students are not supervised and the increasing number of students arriving prior to this time is causing some issue with negative interactions between groups of students.

In the event that your child is at school prior to this time can you please remind your children of school expectations. This is that students arriving prior to 8.40am, must sit under the main COLA until the 8.40am school bell. Students are encouraged to read and chat quietly until the teacher begins supervision.

We thank you for your support in this matter.

Safe

Our focus for this newsletter is our third rule 'Safe'. We strive towards making our school a 'Happy and Safe' place for all students. Our staff will often be reminding students of the need to be safe with equipment, safe when moving around the school and safe when playing with other students.

You can remind your child of our school rules 'Ready, Respectful and Safe' and even mirror these at home. This not only reinforces the message at school and home, but also prepares our students for hearing a consistent message in all settings and with all adults they interact with.

Our New Rules/Expectations 2024

Please click on the link to learn about our new set of School Rules/Expectations. These commenced across the school from Day 1 of Term 1 2024. You are more than welcome to ask the school office for a copy of these document to share and discuss with your children at home.

Volunteer and help us with Ethics Education

We now have 2 amazing volunteers who are assisting with Ethics Education this year. We still need someone to support with the management of the program and someone to support with Coordination. All training is provided. Please keep in mind that a teacher will be present to support with lessons. If you are in a position to support with this program, please contact the office and we will connect you with the Ethics Australia team.

Mental Health Service and Support

The school has had a recent number of students that have been experiencing some difficulty and have required to access the support of CAMHS. The school is currently working with the 'Be You' team to seek additional support and services in this space. We are here to help as best we can, we would ideally like to work proactively with our community. If you would like to discuss anything to do with your children, please reach out and contact the school. We are more than happy to provide whatever support we can.

The 'BeYou' Team have provided the following information for places where you can also seek support for yourself or your children.

Spotlight on our Home Readers

Well done to these Home Readers who have returned their reading logs four or more times already this term! We asked them some questions about their reading.

Student Voice and Leadership

K-6 Wellbeing Workshops

Students have completed their first wellbeing workshop session this term, with some Year 5 and 6 students running the student groups. Our focus for last week was on the Zones of Regulation, a framework to help students develop emotional self-regulation and control. Keep an eye out in your student's bag every Friday to see if they have received one of our peer awards for participation and achievement!

News from around the area...

News From Around The School

Diamond News

Winter has arrived! Students have been learning to sequence the months of the year. With such a cold snap came the perfect opportunity to connect the months of the year to the seasons. Diamond students investigated and explored the change in season with some magical artwork. We used white crayons on white paper and painted over it in blue water colour to reveal a snowy, winter landscape. Students had a look of awe and amazement seeing their invisible picture come to life as the paint repelled the waxy crayon.

Ruby News

This term Ruby is looking at famous artists. We looked at Vincent Van Gogh and created an artwork based on Starry Night using crayons and water colour paints. We are now studying Pablo Picasso and working on an artwork that is inspired by multiple themes in his works.

Emerald News

Dear Goulburn North Public School family and friends,

I am delighted to share how much I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each of the students in the Emerald class. Being part of their learning journey has been a true pleasure. Collaborating within our team-teaching space along with Miss Franchi and her wonderful Topaz class, has enriched our co-educational experience tremendously.

Emerald students have been diligently continuing their learning in both English and Maths, adhering to the NSW syllabus. Their active participation and enthusiasm in their studies have been commendable. The partnership between Emerald and Topaz has fostered a vibrant and supportive learning environment that has benefited all of us.

Though we are continuing to establish our new set routines, it is my hope that the students of Emerald will continue to grow and develop as individuals. I am excited to remain part of this process, supporting and guiding them as they achieve their personal and academic goals.

Warm regards,

Mr. Edward Andrade

Classroom Teacher (Emerald)
