Principal's Report

Hello everyone and welcome back!

What a beautiful day we have had to start back at school. It was so exciting to see some new faces at the front gate this morning, as well as some familiar ones! I hope you have all had a chance to rest and recharge over January and are as excited as we are to get stuck into 2024!

A big welcome to our Foundation students and parents! It is a real pleasure to have you here with us this year and I hope that you find Mount Macedon Primary School to be the welcoming place that it is. If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to reach out. It can be daunting beginning a journey like this and we all hope to make a super positive and enjoyable one!

This weekly newsletter will contain important information about the goings on of the school. It is vital that you endeavour to read through it as it will cover upcoming events, unforeseen changes to programs and a celebration of everyday school life.

You will receive quite a few forms and notes over the next few days, these are Department mandated requirements that cover things such as local area excursion permission as well as photo permission forms. If you could please sign these and return them to your child’s classroom teacher or the front office as soon as possible that would be great.

2024 sees a number of staffing changes and new faces. We welcome Mr. Ben Sonogan to MMPS, he will be teaching in the grade 3/4 class alongside Mrs. Laura Wenczel. Welcome Ben!

Next Friday the 9th of February will see our MMPS Swimming Carnival. This will be held at the Woodend pool. This is a whole school event with the junior school running games and activities in the smaller pool while our 3-6s compete in a range of strokes in the larger pool. A note will go home tomorrow with more information. You will be required to provide permission and payment through the QKR! app, this is already up and running and can be accessed now.

We are excited to welcome SchoolsOUT! to MMPS. Schools OUT! is an Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) provider that will be running OSHC this year. SchoolsOUT! run sessions before and after school that include a range of exciting and engaging activities. If you would like more information please come and see the front office and we can help you enroll and make use of the service.

It has been such a lovely day and a wonderful start to the year, I genuinely cannot wait to see the wonderful things our students will be getting up to in 2024!

Many thanks,

Joe.

    Thanks Amy,

In case we don't have the photo forms for the new preps, all their heads have been tragically removed.

New Prep Day! I have never had the Preps on their very first day of school, so, true to form, I made it a tough one for them as they had to deal with:

    • A new person (me)
    • Scissors
    • Cutting
    • A loud person (still me)
    • Big words
    • Glueing
    • Bad jokes (me again)

But what did we do? well, it seems unfair that the senior students get to have their own laptops, so, we made our own... out of paper.

We talked about what I do (other than being loud and talking fast) what Digital technologies are, and one of the most important ones we use every day - a computer.

But what is inside a computer and how does it work? - That is what we are going to find out over the next few sessions.

Next class, it will be time to pull some apart and see how they work (and if they have fairies and spiders living in them like some of us brainstormed today)

    Mr Garcia.

    Ranges Music Network

The Ranges Music Network is excited to be back making music with all of our creative individuals in Term 1! We have an exciting new program replacing our group lesson format -- called Launchpad! It is a hybrid of individual and ensemble learning that will launch your musicians into the world of 'speaking' and sharing in the language of music. We're all very excited for what opportunities it will bring. For younger musicians just getting started our play-based Discovery Club is a fun way to try a bit of Guitars, Keyboards, Drums, Voices and more to explore and develop our musical vocabulary. Foundation musicians can join in the fun from Term 2. To get started please reach out via email to shaun@rangesmusic.net or text 0449922425. You can learn more at https://rangesmusic.net. Thanks as always for your support. If you have any questions just drop me a line here.

    See you soon
