The students have made a bright start to 2025 in another very busy term at Moorditj. The students have celebrated Harmony Day and studied the importance of Apology Day, our Yr3 and 5 students were tested by NAPLAN examinations, we had a successful Moort Afternoon Tea, enjoyed some amazing cultural experiences on Close the Gap Day, had some great after school sessions with Binar Futures, enjoyed fun Noongar LOTE sessions with Mr Kobi, learned First Aid skills with the St Johns Ambulance team and closed the term with a fabulous Faction Carnival. These opportunities occur regularly at Moorditj and students need to attend every-day to benefit from them.
Yr5/6 Swan Valley Adventure
We have had 20 super-keen Yr5 and Yr6 students attend our Swan Valley Adventure Camp this year. I would like to thank all the staff that gave up their comfortable beds to support our students on camp. The students enjoyed the high ropes, the flying fox, crate climbing, orienteering, wall climbing and outdoor sports during the activity sessions. Ms Jen arranged some fun “Minute to Win It” games at night and the students played spotlight before crawling into their beds.
Marathon Club
Term two is a very busy term for sport at Moorditj Noongar Community College. Kwila was the winner of the Faction carnival yesterday and the Interschool Carnival will be held on 8th May at Midvale PS this year. During Breakfast Club our students are also practising for the Faction Cross Country on 18th June and the Interschool Cross Country on Wednesday 25th June by running laps of our course. We are recording the distances run and students will receive certificates when they reach individual milestones.
Home Reading
Home Reading is an important part of our literacy strategy at Moorditj Noongar Community College. It is important that children read every night for at least 10 minutes. We will send home a variety of books that are at their appropriate level. Students that get their home reading books folders signed, will earn books every 20 nights at assembly. This term students that read for 35 nights enjoyed a free trip to Bounce.
