Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Chickenpox (Varicella)
There has still been a few new cases of Chickenpox in the school. We are continuing our additional cleaning and precautions to minimise transmission. Please watch your child for symptoms. If your child has chickenpox, they may:
• have a mild fever
• feel tired and irritable
• be itchy
• have a rash /blister like spots.
Please advise the school ASAP if you suspect your child has contracted Chickenpox.
Children with chickenpox should not go to kindergarten or school until the last blister has dried.
Parents and Visitors to Lihir International School
We have had a number of cases of both parents and visitors to the school, walking through the school grounds without first checking in at the main administration office. While we encourage teacher / parent communication, it is preferred an appointment be arranged prior to any formal meetings. For any informal correspondence please do stop by the main administration office to touch base before entering the school.
Wellbeing
Last Friday, Lihir International School hosted our student mindfulness afternoon. Thank you to Ms Langusch, the Wellbeing Team and all teachers for organising this important afternoon - it was a huge success. Thank you also to Amanda Amidy for coming to take our high school yoga sessions for the afternoon. Finally, thanks also to the P&W who made donations of fresh fruit as a healthy snack for all students from Prep to Grade 10 as part of this afternoon. Students really enjoyed this healthy treat.
Year 10 Written Expression Exam
Yesterday, Thursday, the 5th June, our fifth year 10 class sat for their Written Expression National Exam. Thanks to Ms Yip and our high school teachers for all their work in preparing our year 10 group.
