Principal's Message

Dear Families,

What a wonderful day for our P-2 Athletics Carnival today!

Our Grade 5s were fortunate to fit in a ski day last week, just before the last of the snow disappeared.

Before the end of Term 3 rolls around, we are looking forward to the G3 Musical, G3 excursion to Glenrowan and our Sports Colours Day on the last day of school.

Illness

There have been lots of staff and students unwell in the second half of this term.  There are currently high rates of Influenza B and other respiratory viruses in and around Mansfield.  Please make sure you keep your children at home if they are unwell.  Hopefully the Term 3 Holidays allow everyone to have a break and a rest so that we are all ready to go for the start of Term 4.

Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey

The Parent/Guardian/Caregiver survey is open for families to complete.  While previously a random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents/caregivers/guardians have been selected to participate, for the last two years, all families are invited to participate in the survey. Families have been emailed a link with a school PIN to complete the survey.  The survey is open until tomorrow Friday September 8th.

Thank you to all those families who have provided a response.  Your feedback will contribute to the future management and organisation of our school.

Like always, please get in touch with us with any questions or concerns.  Call or email your classroom teacher, call the front office or email me tom.macmunn@education.vic.gov.au.

Have a great weekend.

Take Care,

Tom

Story Dogs at MPS

A massive thank you to Denise and her dog Poppy for supporting Mansfield Primary School.  Poppy and Denise make reading fun for students in Year 2. Denise brings Poppy to school once a week so that Poppy can listen to students read. Students spend time 1:1 with Poppy and Denise focusing on reading confidence. If you would  like more information about the program please speak to Nicole Salmon.

Science Week - The Egg Drop Challenge!

Thank you to everyone who donated materials for our Egg Drop Challenge.  Over the last 2 weeks during STEM lessons students from Prep to Year 6 have made a protective structure to save an egg from breaking as we dropped it from the top of the ninja warrior course. Students did an excellent job. As a school we only lost 27 eggs. We saved 3-4 structures from each classroom and this Friday Mr MacMunn will get up the big ladder to drop the remaining eggs! More photos to come!

MPS Grade 3-6 Athletics Carnival

On Friday 25th of August, the Grade 3-6 students had their Athletics Carnival which was held at the main oval. The sun was out, and we had a super fun day as all the grade 3-6 students got the chance to compete in different events. Students had the opportunity to compete in the high jump, 100m and 200m race, hurdles, discus, shot put and ended the day with a house relay and a teachers vs grade 6 relay.

The students who came in the top five from all the events get to go to District Athletics. Well done to all students who challenged themselves and to those who made it through to the next round. Throughout the event, house points were awarded and at the end of the day, Howitt came 4th, Stirling in 3rd, Buller in 2nd and in first place was Cobbler.

A big thank you to Miss Driessen for putting together the Athletics Carnival, and all the teachers and staff who helped run different events and support students on the day.
