Plattsburg Public School Newsletter

May 2025, Term 2 Week 2

A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers, and Community,

It’s been a busy and exciting start to the term at Plattsburg, and I’m proud to share some of the fantastic learning and community highlights from across our school.

Sounds Write Literacy Program – Now in K-3

Our implementation of the Sounds Write program has officially begun in Kindergarten to Year 3 classrooms. This structured phonics approach is already making a positive impact, and we look forward to seeing continued success in literacy as students grow in confidence and skill.

Explicit Teaching in Action

Explicit Teaching continues across all classrooms, and it’s been fantastic to hear from our dedicated staff about the positive responses from students. The clarity and structure of this approach are helping every learner to thrive and stay engaged.

Maths Reviews Coaching Rounds

Our talented Assistant Principals Curriculum and Instruction (APCIs) will begin Maths Reviews coaching rounds over the next two weeks. This is a great opportunity to further support staff and ensure our numeracy programs continue to build strong mathematical thinkers.

'Spotted'

Our ‘Spotted’ program is still going strong in both the classroom and playground. We’re so proud of our students who continue to demonstrate our school values each and every day.

Parents and / or carers must be in attendance to walk with their children and PPS staff.

Asphalt Area Closed

We would like to inform you that starting Monday, 12th May, half of our asphalt area will be undergoing re-concreting works. This section will be out of action for approximately one to two weeks. The area will be securely fenced off by qualified construction workers to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

This is a great outcome for our school and will certainly improve our school environment.

All students have been notified of these changes. During this period, recess and lunch play will be in the Gully. Please remind your children of this arrangement and encourage them to speak with their teachers if they have any questions or concerns.

If you have any questions regarding these works, please do not hesitate to contact the school.Thank you for your understanding and support.
