St Mary's Bulletin

Term 2 - Week 9 (19th, June 2026)

Short Term Principal

I would like to advise that I will be on Long Service Leave during Week 11 of this term and for the first two weeks of Term 3.

During my absence, Mrs Elizabeth Browner will be stepping into the role of Acting Principal. Elizabeth has recently retired from St Mary’s in Kalgoorlie and brings with her a wealth of experience in Catholic education and school leadership. We are very pleased to have her supporting our school community during this time.

Seeking Community Voice

Early next term we will take part in a School Climate Survey. This is an opportunity for the community to provide feedback regarding their experience with Catholic Education. More details to follow next term.

Special Events Ministry Fundraiser

Our Special Events Ministry will be conducting a weekly fundraiser to support Telethon. Each Friday they will have a "Take a Guess" competition, where you can take a guess of the numbers of objects in the jar. There will be a different guessing item each week and a different prize every week for the winner.  We look forward to your support and to seeing how much we can raise for Telethon!!

Students Reports Update

The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) is the Government body responsible for Education in Australia. They have indicated that Catholic Schools must report in the same way that Government Schools have been reporting. This means that in the upcoming Semester One Report, there will be one overall grade given to your child per subject. The Report will also now contain one large comment that will hold a Religion, English, Maths and General comment within. If you have any questions surrounding these changes, please don’t hesitate to call me.

Semester One Reports

Semester One reports for students in Pre-Primary to Year Six will be sent out via SEQTA Engage in Week Eleven.

Please see the following link to ensure you have access to Engage -

https://stmarysmerredin.engage.cewa.edu.au/

You may need to reset your password. Alternatively, if you do not already have a SEQTA Engage account, please email: admin@stmarysmerredin.wa.edu.au and a welcome email will be sent to you so you can create a login. Welcome emails were sent out to new families and the families of Pre-Primary students who do not have an older sibling on Wednesday. Please check your emails (and junk emails) for these and follow the directions to set up your SEQTA account. Please note, the welcome emails are only valid for one week and then they expire.

If you have any questions, please email the Admin team.

Special Events

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation was held on Sunday the 14th of June. Congratulations to Mac Johnston and Kai Wahlsten who made the sacrament. It was a joyous celebration and we thank Father Philip, Mrs MacDonald and Mrs Herbert and the parents for their preparation and support of the students.

Football Clinic

Students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 an enjoyed an exciting football clinic that was packed with fun, energy and plenty of friendly competition. Throughout the sessions, students enthusiastically participated in a range of skill-based activities and games, showing great teamwork and sportsmanship.

The competition was fierce, with everyone eager to get their hands on the prize footballs up for grabs! It was fantastic to see so many students involved, giving their best effort and having fun along the way. A big thank you to Mr Reid for once again running a fantastic football clinic. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are already looking forward to the next one!
