PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Kiss and Ride Shelter

We are very pleased to finally have our new Kiss and Ride shelters. The shelters provide protection for students during rain and in extreme temperatures while they are waiting at the Kiss and Ride zone.

As mentioned in previous bulletins attendance at school is extremely important.  Research highlights a clear correlation between student attendance and the achievement of quality academic, socio-economic and health outcomes. This research tells us that students with an attendance rate below 90% are educationally at risk.

To help our students and as part of our attendance strategies we are going to introduce a reward system. More information will come out shortly.

SPORT REPORT

Well done to all students who have done a great job practising for some of our field events for the athletics carnival to be held in Week 8. Your efforts have been very impressive.

Congratulations to the students who competed at the zone cross country carnival. You represented our school brilliantly and did everyone proud. Well done to the five students who qualified for the Hunter carnival to be held in a couple of weeks this is an outstanding achievement.

In the Under 10’s girls Mia Currie came 2nd and Ruby Carey came 5th

In the Under 12’s boys Noah Godfrey came 5th and in the Under 11’s girls Tegan McCallum finished in 1st place and Amelia Black in 2nd. Well done to all these students and we wish you all the best at the Hunter Carnival.

Thank you to the boys cricket team who played Taree West last Tuesday. The boys played very well with some great batting and bowling but most importantly played the game with great sportsmanship. Unfortunately they did not get the win but represented our school fantastically.

The opens and under 10’s rugby league as well as the league tag team represented our school at the NRL regional classic day. All teams played extremely well and had a great day.

A great job by the girls touch team who competed at the Zone PSSA Touch Football Knockout. They played well but were beaten by Old Bar in the semi final. Old Bar went on to win the final.

Good luck to the girls and boys basketball teams who will compete in the PSSA knockout on Monday.

Best of luck to the Opens rugby league team as they compete in the PSSA Knockout competition next Wednesday.

And finally good luck to Melia Ward trialling for Hunter Soccer team and Kye Welsh who is representing Hunter at the State Touch Football Carnival next week.

Thank you to everyone who has made it possible for the students to have so many sporting opportunities, your efforts are much appreciated.
