We have almost reached the Term 1 school holidays. It has been a very busy end to the term with many events. You will find these featured in this newsletter.
Mallala Excursion
On the 27th March all Wasleys students visited the Mallala Museum where we they able to learn about life in the past. Students were taken back in time in an olden days classroom. They observed farming equipment used and saw the development of new inventions. Inside the Museum itself students were immersed in artefacts steeped in history from medical equipment, bank notes and cooking equipment to clothing, communication and old war records. What an interesting and engaging way to learn about history! Thank you to Cheryl Burr for organising the excursion and the staff who supported our students to have such a wonderful day.
Wisteria
You may have noticed that the Wisteria has been removed! The next stages include re paving, re guttering and removing old posts for a rejuvenated and safe space.
Interviews
Thank you to Carol Martin and Emma Jones for meeting with families to work in partnership for interviews on Tuesday 2nd April. It was pleasing to see students sharing their work, feeling proud of their successes at school and families supporting their children with feedback from the Teachers.
Small Schools Sports Day
Small Schools Sports Day was also a huge success. It proved to be another great learning experience in many ways. Students learnt new athletic skills, connected with students from other small schools and had the opportunity to learn skills in participation and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Thank you to the Wasleys school community for showing support on the day with helping and transport.
Wellbeing at Wasleys
Staff have been working to identify areas of strength and future development in the area of Wellbeing as part of the new Education Strategy and Areas of Impact. We have been working hard to embed our work with Kimochis and connect emotions to regulation. We are currently working on a Wellbeing Plan with a clear direction to increase Wellbeing at Wasleys.
ANZAC Day
ANZAC Day is on the 25th April and we will have Bailey and Beau (SRC Representatives) attend the service and lay a wreath on behalf of the school at 9:00 am. ANZAC Day commemorates soldiers who landed on the beaches of Gallipoli in 1915, as well as men and women who have served Australia in all conflicts, wars and peacekeeping operations. The SRC have created a wreath containing traced hands from everyone and red poppies.
Holidays
Thank you again for having me as part of your school community this term. I hope everyone enjoys a safe and enjoyable break.
