Eastlakes Edition

Term 4 Week 3

Acknowledgement to Country

On behalf of the students, teachers and parents of Eastlakes Public School, we would like to pay our respects and acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, past, present and future who have the first connection to this land.

We are thankful for the Gadigal and Kameygal clans for taking care of the land, sky and waterways on which we learn and play today.

Together we will rise to the challenge and be respectful andresponsible to care for our country.

Always was, always will be Aboriginal land

From the Principal

I hope this newsletter finds you in great spirits and good health. It has been a busy and exciting two weeks here at Eastlakes PS, and here are some of the highlights:

Dental Van Visit: We kicked off the past fortnight with a visit from the Dental Van, which provided our students with the opportunity to receive essential dental check-ups and oral health education. We understand the importance of maintaining good oral health for our students' overall well-being. It was wonderful to see our young learners taking part in this program, and I would like to thank the dedicated team of professionals who made this visit a success.

Rhythm Village Interactive Music Program: The power of music in education cannot be overstated, and the Rhythm Village Music Program certainly struck a chord with our students. Our students were immersed in a world of melodies, rhythms, and harmonies. This program not only fosters a love for music but also develops important skills like teamwork, creativity, and self-expression. I am looking forward to Presentation Day where students will demonstrate their learning from this program.

Swimming Program: Our students made quite a splash in the first week of the swimming program. The program aims to develop water safety skills and build confidence in the water. Our students are embracing the challenges of swimming, and we are grateful to our experienced instructors who ensure that safety is a top priority throughout the program. Students have one more week of swimming.

Kinder Transition Program: The first session of our Kinder Transition program marked a significant milestone for our future Kinder students. The program focuses on preparing children for a smooth transition into school life as well as providing their parents with important information about school. The next transition session is next Tuesday 31st October at 9am.

Upgrades and Maintenance: The NSW Department of Education School Infrastructure will be making improvements through upgrades and maintenance in the coming weeks at Eastlakes PS. Some of the work to be done includes: roofing; painting of ceilings; walls and doors; wet area refurbishment and new carpet. Much of the work will be completed during weekends however there may be some disruptions which we will minimise as much as possible. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority throughout this process.

WORLD TEACHERS DAY - 27 October

Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions

Today, on World Teachers' Day, we celebrate the incredible educators who play a pivotal role in shaping the minds and futures of our students.

World Teachers' Day, serves as a recognition of the profound impact that teachers have on individuals, communities, and societies. It is an occasion to acknowledge the commitment, hard work, and passion that our teachers bring to their classrooms every day.

Our teachers are not just instructors; they are mentors, role models, and guides who inspire and empower our students to reach their full potential. They create safe and inclusive learning environments that nurture creativity, critical thinking, and a love for lifelong learning.

In the face of the challenges posed by the ever-evolving educational (and world) landscape, our teachers have shown remarkable resilience, adaptability, and innovation.

I encourage you all to take a moment today (or any day) to express your appreciation for our educators. A simple "thank you" can go a long way in acknowledging the vital role they play in the lives of our students.

To our EPS teaching staff your dedication, passion and unwavering commitment to our students are truly commendable. Your influence extends far beyond the classroom, and you are shaping the leaders, thinkers, and innovators of tomorrow.

Happy World Teachers Day EPS Teachers!

Congratulations to our Class Award Winners!

Parents and carers we want to hear from you! You have the opportunity to complete the Partners in Learning Survey over the next 2 weeks. The survey is open from today Sunday 22 October until 3pm Friday 3rd November.

The Partners in Learning survey is part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys on student engagement and wellbeing. EPS have been running these surveys since 2014 for students, teachers and parents/carers and over the years we have had excellent feedback from all stakeholders. The survey data has enabled the school to develop and drive school strategic directions to improve student outcomes.

Take this opportunity to have your thoughts and opinions heard. This link takes you straight to the survey: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/epsparents23
