From the Principal

Welcome back to Term 3.  We have another busy term ahead.  

There have been some changes to some timetabling:

  • Library for K-2 will be on a Wednesday and for 3-6 on a Thursday
  • Art will take place on Mondays for 3-6 and Thursdays for K-2
  • Sport for all students will be on a Wednesday and a Friday. Students are to wear their sports uniform and joggers on these days. PSSA clothing is permitted to be worn on sports days only.

Breakfast Club, Hot Chocolate Tuesday and SRC Meal Deals Fridays will continue as normal.

Mrs Arabin is on leave for Week 1 with Mr Godman on 4/5/6 Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Ranie on 4/5/6 Thursday and Friday. Please contact Mrs Ranie if needed.

During Week 2, students in Years 5 & 6 will be attending the Transitions Creative Arts Camp and Mrs Arabin will be accompanying the group. Students in Year 4 will attend school as per usual and will join with the 2/3 class for those days.

Please dress for the season and come with your jumpers, jackets and warm clothing!

All week - Book Week "Reading is Magic" (Street Parade date TBC)

Class K/1 celebrated 100 days of school

NAIDOC Week 7-14 July

Poster title: Urapun Muy. Artist: Deb Belyea SAMUAWGADHALGAL, TORRES STRAIT ‘Urapun Muy’, from the Kalaw Kawaw Ya dialect of the Top Western Islands of the Torres Strait, means ‘One Fire’. The title of this work pays homage to Torres Strait Islanders and Aboriginal people everywhere, as we all have that one fire: our passion for our culture. In this work, I have depicted the hands of our ancestors that have carefully dropped a burning ember on to a fire. This ember burns hot with intensity, stoking the flames, as it combines with the new fire. The linear detail shows the energy and power as cultural knowledge is transferred from our ancestors to us today. Culture is the fire that gives us knowledge, wisdom and purpose. It is our responsibility to maintain, practice, and pass on our fire to our future generations. Afterall, Culture keeps us Blak, Loud and Proud.

Have you signed up to the Sentral Parent Portal?

During the last school holidays, each family received mail with an introduction letter and a unique family code to sign up to the Sentral Parent Portal and App. Completely rebuilt from the ground up, the Sentral for Parents app hosts a fresh new look with improved functionality.The new app offers a significantly better experience for users and was rebuilt based on extensive school and user feedback. The app now supports a seamless experience with the Sentral Parent Portal, offering access to all features from the convenience of a mobile device. Schools can now activate Parent Portal features in the app including

  • Newsfeed – stay up to date with school announcements
  • Absences – notify the school of absences and specify the reason
  • Messages - communicate with teachers easily via 2-way messaging
  • Calendar – key dates and important events
  • Interviews – view, book and manage parent / teacher interviews
  • Payments – a secure mobile payment method for school fees, excursions and more.

Currently, parents can make online payments, view student reports and update student attendance using the app, and as we increase our parent usage, we will include permission slips, newsletters and much more! Please sign up today!
