Principal's Updates

Remembrance Day

On Monday 11th November, our school captains Bonnie and William led the Remembrance Day service for our school. Students learnt that this day marks the end of fighting on the Western Front on November 11, 1918. It is a day to remember the service and sacrifice of those who have died since World War I. All our students displayed a high level of respect during the service. SRC representatives from each class brought poppies made by their peers to create a respectful display at the base of the school flagpole.

Colour Run

Thank you to our wonderful P&C for organising such a brilliant Colour Run again for our school community. It was nice to see students and families from Preschool to Year 6 attend our annual fundraiser. Congratulations to Noah and Henry who were the top two fundraisers this year. To celebrate their fundraising skills, they both were given the fun task of pouring a gigantic bucket of slime over me!

I would also like to thank our wonderful Rydalmere Public School parents, families and staff who came along and volunteered their time last Friday afternoon, it was a hugely successful afternoon.

Pacific Championships Rugby League

Last Friday our Summer PSSA team were invited to join the inaugural NRL Pacific Championships Gala Day event for schools. Eight National teams joined our students for a fun day of leaguetag activities. Students had the opportunity to visit informative kiosks that had cultural activities and stories about the different Pacific Island nations such as Tonga, Papua New Guinea and Fiji. Towards the end of the day our students and Mrs Jaitani were lucky enough to meet current NRL and NRLW players.

Have a fabulous week.

Regards,

Warren Yee

Selective high school and opportunity class applications

Selective high school Year 7 entry in 2026: Apply when your child is at the end of Year 5 or the beginning of Year 6.

Opportunity class Year 5 entry in 2026: Apply when your child is at the end of Year 3 or the beginning of Year 4.

Selective high schools and opportunity classes are 2 of the ways the NSW Department of Education supports high potential and gifted students.

What are their benefits?

  • Students learn alongside, and form friendships with, other high potential and gifted classmates.
  • Special teaching methods allow students to learn at a quicker pace and in more detail.
  • Research shows that students benefit both academically and socially when learning with classmates who have similar abilities.

Selective high schools and opportunity classes are not zoned so you can apply to ones outside your local enrolment area.

Student leadership 2025

We are pleased to announce that seven Year 5 students have been nominated for student leadership roles as Captains and Prefects for 2025. Each nominee will present a 2-3 minute speech to the school during Week 8. Afterward, students and current leaders will have the opportunity to vote. From these nominations, two Captains and two Prefects will be selected.

The elected Captains and Prefects will be officially presented at our Presentation Day ceremony on Wednesday, December 11. Please note that voting for Sport Captains and Vice Captains will take place early next year.

Cool Off for a Cause: Zooper Dooper Tuesdays!

Our Zooper Dooper fundraiser has already raised over $200 for our Year 6s this term! We'll keep the momentum going, with Zooper Doopers available every Tuesday at lunch for just $1. Don’t forget to bring your money to support our fundraising efforts and help us reach our goal!

Peer Support Week 2: Building Friendships and Fun!

We’re thrilled to share that our Year 5 and 6 peer support leaders are doing an incredible job in their new roles! In the second week of peer support, they’ve shown great leadership by engaging students and helping to foster new friendships across the school. Feedback from students has been fantastic, with everyone enjoying the chance to connect and learn together. We look forward to seeing these friendships and teamwork continue to grow each week!

Fluency, Fun, and Teamwork: Stage Two and Three Students in Reader’s Theater

Stage Two and Three students have been diving into Reader’s Theater, bringing stories to life through expressive reading and teamwork. This engaging activity helps students develop fluency, comprehension, and confidence as they take on different character roles. It’s been a wonderful opportunity for them to practice reading aloud, collaborate with classmates, and add their unique personalities to each performance.

From the Office

RPS Preschool Enrolments for 2025 are now open.

General Guidelines

Public preschools enrol children for one year only, the year before they start school.  Children can enrol from the beginning of the school year if they turn four years of age before 31 July that year.

Priority is given to:

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children
  • children living in low socio-economic circumstances
  • children who are unable to access other early childhood settings due to financial hardship

The Principal will then offer enrolment in the following order:

  • children living within the school's catchment area
  • children living outside the catchment area but have siblings at the school
  • other applicants

For further information, please go to the NSW Department of Education link below:

Our office staff are happy to be of assistance with any further questions or with the enrolment process.

Change of Details

Please contact the office by email rydalmere-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au if there has been a change to any of the following to your child/children's details:

- change of address.

- change of email.

- phone numbers - mobile or home/work.

- change of emergency contacts.

- Additional/change of medical circumstances

Lost Property

Our PBL expectations of being Safe, Respectful Learners support our students in taking responsibility for their own belongings at school including jumpers, hats, lunchboxes and drink bottles.

To support your child and the school in maintaining lost property to a minimum level we ask that parents or carers clearly label all items brought to school with your child's FULL NAME.

The most common items to lost property include jumpers and hats, lunchboxes and drink bottles, and personal treasures. Students have access to lost property during the school day to search for misplaced possessions. When possible, labelled items in the lost property will be returned to students. Due to the limited space for lost property, unlabeled and unclaimed items are regularly disposed of.

Lost property is located at the front of the office.

P&C Colour Run

COLOUR RUN WRAP UP!

Thank you to the P&C Executive, P&C Committee, staff and volunteers who helped make our Colour Run this year a huge success! Special thanks to Maryanne, Naomi, Chris and Jack for all their efforts.

Thank you to Mitsubishi Electric in Rydalmere for their generous donation of $500, which helped cover our BBQ and catering costs for the evening. We are so thankful for their loyal support.

Congratulations to our highest fundraisers - Noah in year 1 and Henry in year 3 - who had the privilege of sliming Mr Yee! Thank you Mr Yee for being such a great sport on the day and encouraging the students with their fundraising in the lead up. Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended with their children. It was wonderful to see such a great display of community spirit!

We have already raised over $6K and there is still more time to add to our tally! Visit Australian Fundraising: https://myprofilepage.com.au/ to make any last-minute donations before this Saturday 16th November.

Thank you again for your support!

Community Hub News

Upcoming Events

Hello, Community Hub Members!

As we reach the mid-term mark, I want to express heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to making our Diwali and Moon Festival celebrations a fantastic experience. A big shout-out to Asami for her surreal sound and breath workshop, followed by Sophie’s energetic dance fitness session, and of course, the delicious feast everyone brought to share. We also had a blast crafting and creating beautiful henna designs!

Exciting news! The much-anticipated "Use Food Hygiene and Safety" course by Parramatta Community College is set for Friday, November 15th. The theory session will be conducted in the computer room in the morning, while the practical session will take place in the canteen in the afternoon. A huge thanks to our P&C for supporting this initiative and closing the canteen for a day to ensure everything runs smoothly. We encourage all course participants to lend a hand in our canteen on Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays.

Kerri delighted us with another incredible craft session at the hub on November 11th. If you missed it, don't worry! She will be back with more creative fun on December 9th. Mark your calendars and register to take part in this unique program!

Save the date: Friday, December 6th, for our Christmas and year-end celebration! This special day will feature discussions about next year's exciting programs, including swimming, cooking, floristry, and English. Plus, enjoy dancing, crafts, and a whole lot of fun. Don't forget the lucky draw and fabulous prizes for attendees!

For those I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet, I'm Seetha, your friendly Community Liaison Officer at the Community Hub. You'll find me around the school from Monday to Wednesday and on Fridays. The Community Hub is your gateway to forging meaningful connections with fellow families, the school, and local services. It's a welcoming space where all parents can meet, mingle, and build lasting friendships.

So why not pop in for a coffee and a chat, or jump into an activity? I'm eager to meet all of you. If you want to learn more about the Hub or find out how you can get involved, give me a call at 0448331588 or shoot me an email at seetha.srinivasan@det.nsw.edu.au.
