Dear Families,
As you know we are deeply committed to developing our students as Effective Learners of literacy and numeracy at Hallett Cove East Primary School. We are also committed to developing in all students, the self-regulation skills and social literacy skills for effective learning.
As an effective learner, in all classrooms and year levels, students are developing their ability to think creatively and act with curiosity in their learning and thinking. Students are encouraged to use their imagination, pose questions and test theories to deepen their knowledge and understanding. Students are connecting what they already know with new learning experiences as they make meaning and deepen understanding of new concepts and problems. When thinking about learning challenges, students are deciding on the best strategies to use in order to figure out, and what might be needed to successfully demonstrate their learning understanding and progress. All students are encouraged to view learning challenges with resilience and a growth mindset whilst developing the skills and behaviours required to handle different learning situations. Learning is a complex and wonderful process and our classrooms are environments full of rich learning opportunities for every student.
Teachers consider each of the domains of an effective learner in their classroom practice and task design to enhance learning experiences for all students.
This term, our staff professional development has focused on practices that support self-regulation in classrooms for every learner. Staff utilise strategies that support students’ readiness to learn, self-regulation skills and positive engagement with the classroom environment. We are very proud of our staff and students in promoting a safe and supportive learning environment for everyone at Hallett Cove East so that learning is done in a calm and productive manner.

Each student was able to demonstrate the skills and dispositions required to be a lighthouse leader through written application and interview. Lighthouse Leaders have an important role in supporting the directions of the school and representing the thoughts of all students on schoolwide initiatives, within and beyond the school gate. We would like to congratulate all year six students on gaining their individual leadership position across the school for 2025.
We need you!
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our school. We truly appreciate parent contributions to the learning experiences of our students. Please consider joining our school as a volunteer. We would love your support with excursions, sports events, supporting classroom learning and whole school community events. Our next opportunity is the Clean Up Australia Day on Wednesday 26th February from 9am. Please reach out to your child’s class teacher if you are able to assist with this important community event. We love offering our students the chance to impact their wider community. Your support is invaluable.
With regards
Matthew Chapman
