Thanks to Belle Property Central Coast for their support of the Mothers' Day breakfast. We are also extremely grateful to the volunteer parent support that ensured the Mothers' Day stall and the Mothers' Day breakfast were both tremendously successful.
On Friday 28 April the boys cricket team played a match against Bateau Bay Public School. It was a very fun and tiring day for all of us. We played well, even though some of us had never touched a cricket ball in our life. We did end up losing by a pretty convincing score but it was an amazing day. Bateau PS were an amazing team and deserved to win. Good luck to them in their next match.

Each year, on May 26, 'Sorry Day' is acknowledged across Australia. It is a day to remember the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation.
National Reconciliation Week is acknowledged from 27 May - 3 June. This year marks 22 years of Reconciliation Australia and the theme for National Reconciliation Week 2023 is ‘Be a Voice for Generations’, encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives- where we live, work, and socialise.
These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. It is a time for all Australians to understand that we each play a part in collectively building relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.
At Wamberal Public School, our K-6 students and teachers will be working together to learn and commemorate 'Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week'; the culture, shared history and achievements of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and peoples and explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Dear parents and carers,
During Term 2, students will participate in the Check-in assessment.
The Check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online literacy and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning.
The assessment can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing in literacy and numeracy and to help teachers tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs. Students with disability may receive the same level of support during the assessment they would normally receive in the classroom.
ꞏ The assessment is scheduled for our Year 4 and Year 6 students during Weeks 4-7 this term.
ꞏ All students complete a reading assessment and a numeracy assessment.
Optional advice:
Students can bring their own headphones or earbuds that plug into a computer to enable them to hear audio during the assessment. Earbuds used for mobile phones or other portable devices may be suitable for use during the assessment. The school will have headphones for all students in need.
