Reflection

Slow me down, Lord!

Ease the pounding of my heart by the quietening and calming of my mind.

Break the tensions of my nerves and muscles with the soothing music of the singing streams that live in my memory.

Give me, amidst the confusion of the day, the calmness of the everlasting hills.

Steady my hurried pace with a vision of your eternal reach of time, and restore and heal me in the hours of sleep.

Teach me the art of appreciating what is ordinary: of slowing down to look at and become more aware of the beauty around me; to take time to be with others, to sit and enjoy music or a good book - to give myself time for myself.

Remind me each day of the fable of the hare and the tortoise, that I may know that the race is not always to the swift; that there is more to life than increasing its speed.

Let me look upwards into the branches of the towering trees and know that they grew great and strong because they grew slowly and well.

Slow me down, Lord, and inspire me to send my roots deep into the soil of life’s enduring values. Slow me down, Lord, that I may grow true and well in your light. Amen.

Dear Parents and Friends of St Anne’s

This term many of our students have been enjoying art sessions with Sibone Heary (mother of Noah and Eli.) The focus has been on designing charcoal self portraits and full body portraits. We are very fortunate to have such a talented artist amongst our community. Thank you Sibone for sharing your expertise.

We would like to congratulate Mrs Hannah Douglas and her husband on the new addition to their family a daughter Lilly Douglas.

REPORTABLE CONDUCT POLICY Please click on link

Our annual Scholastic Bookfair is scheduled for Thursday 11 May - Tues 16 May.  The Bookfair assists in the acquisition of new books for our library via a commission received from sales.  It has been wonderfully supported by our school community in the past and is always popular with students.

We will need the help of a team of volunteers as sales can get rather hectic, particularly in the first couple of sessions.  If you are available to assist on the sales register or in any other capacity during the session times detailed below, I would love to see you join the team.  There is an online sign up sheet available through volunteers sign up.  Please click on the following web link (or copy it into your web browser if clicking doesn't work) to go to the signup sheet:

volunteersignup.org/QYR99

To sign up, just follow the instructions on the page. It only takes a few seconds to do.

Just a reminder that if parents cannot get into school during the allocated sales times the option of ordering is available online.  Each student completes a wishlist during their preview session on Thursday 11th May and takes it home to their parents.  If you wish to purchase but cannot attend the in person sales, please fill in the back of the wish list form with your online payment receipt details and return this to school with your child so we can supply the item ordered from the bookfair stocks.

I look forward to seeing you all at the fair in a couple of weeks.  If you have any queries please contact me at the email address below.

Sales times are as follows:

Learning and Teaching

This term in STEM, the students at St Anne’s are sharpening their Lego building skills in preparation for a whole-school excursion to Legoland Discovery Centre in Chadstone!

On Thursday 1st June, Years 4-6 will be first to explore the amazing world of Lego, followed by Years F-3 on Friday 2nd June. They will have the chance to participate in a self-guided session and guided workshops that will explore STEM concepts and take their Lego building skills to the next level.

Years 2-6 will also have the opportunity to delve into the world of robotics, learning about coding and programming using Lego.

Students will leave and return to school via bus during school hours and will bring their usual snacks, lunch and drink bottle. It’s going to be a whole day filled with fun and learning for them as they discover all that Lego has to offer. So, mark it on your calendar and get the excursion form filled out and submitted via the Skoolbag app - this will be a school excursion they won’t want to miss!
