Nhamirri Walal,
I hope all our families enjoyed a restful short break and are feeling refreshed and ready for our second term.
We hit the ground running in Week 1, with our first three days dedicated to our Mathematics improvement goal. Staff across the school (including preschool) participated in our Top Ten Maths professional development, which was a valuable opportunity to strengthen our collective approach to maths teaching and learning.
With everyone back in class I am also pleased to share that our intervention programs are up and running, including Mathematics, Literacy, Social and Emotional learning, and Fine Motor development. These programs are carefully aligned to each student's Individual Learner Profile (ILP) or Educational Adjustment Program (EAP). This work is focussed on whole school engagement goal; stiving to meet the needs of every child.
It was wonderful to see so many families at our Parent Teacher Interviews during the last two weeks of Term 1. These conversations are such an important part of our partnership with you, and I thank our teachers for their commitment and the long days they put in to make these meetings possible. If you haven't met with your child's teacher, you are still able to do this, and I'd encourage you to make it a priority.
Looking ahead, this Friday we will be holding our special ANZAC Day Assembly, proudly hosted by our Student Leadership Team. We are honoured to welcome members of our community, including representatives from the Defence Force, Fire, and Police services. This year we are really stepping things up, with both bagpipes and a bugle featured in the ceremony; it is sure to be a memorable and moving occasion. Each class will also have the opportunity to lay a wreath, which is a beautiful way for our students to participate meaningfully in this important commemoration. Families are warmly welcome to attend on Friday at 12pm.
Lastly, I would like to highlight that nominations are now open for the World Teachers' Day – NT Excellence Awards. These awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of teachers, specialist teachers, early childhood educators, leaders and support staff who are making a difference in the lives of NT students. We have so many exceptional staff here at NPS who are truly deserving of this recognition, and I would encourage our families to take a moment to complete a nomination. The process only takes a few minutes, and every nomination makes a difference and helps shine a light on the incredible work happening in our school every day. I have included a parent information sheet in the newsletter as well.
It's great to be back and we look forward to a productive and positive Term 2 ahead.
Warm wishes,
Rachel Blundell
