The Gospel (John 14: 15)

Jesus said, “If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you, keep my commandments”.

... On the way to Mass

What are ways that you can show Jesus that you love him?

On the way home from Mass…

Is it difficult to keep Jesus’ commandments? Is there one commandment that is harder for you to follow?

The Prayer

Invite all gathered to blow into their hands after each response line, symbolising the Spirit within us all. Another option is to have someone play a singing bowl or ring a bell at this time, shaping a different kind of space with sound. Each response line is to be read by a different person from a different place in the room.

When the way is difficult, and the path is lonely, Jesus says: I will not leave you alone. When the journey is smooth, and the travelling easy, Jesus says: I will not leave you alone.

When the horizon is far, and the call is clear, Jesus says: I will not leave you alone. When the place is here, and the time is now, Jesus says: I will not leave you alone.

The Question of the Week

Staff/Parents

What difficulties have you overcome because of your belief in the power of the Holy Spirit?

Primary Students

Name some times when you need the help of the Holy Spirit?

The Action

People are not fooled by words of love that are not supported by actual actions. Love is in the evidence. Flowers and poems are good, but holding a feverish child is better.  Make your love for God real in three solid ways this week. Love your neighbour, show unnecessary kindness, bring compassion where there is accusation, remember the poor.

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation, together with Baptism and the Eucharist, constitutes the set of "the sacraments of Christian initiation," that is, sacraments whose reception is necessary for the fullness of the grace we receive in Baptism.

On Wednesday and Thursday night, the following year 5 and 6 students alongside their sponsors and family members, proudly received their sacraments officiated by Father Chris De Souza, Father Wim and Father Jessie. During his homily, Father Chris reminded the congregation that we too are like the first disciples who have received the gifts of the Holy Spirit and can continue to live our lives according to the mission of Jesus Christ.

The sacrament of Confirmation unites the Church more intimately and enriches her with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, those who receive it are obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed, as true witnesses of Christ.

Congratulations to the following students:

Mother's Day

Thank you to the P&F and all the volunteers who organized and prepared the lovely breakfast for all our mothers and Grandmothers. We hope you all have a wonderful day on Sunday.

Thank you also to the P&F volunteers for organising the Mothers Day Stall. Thank you to the generous families who donated prizes for the raffle.

Feedback on our School

In the coming weeks we will be inviting our students and parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.

From Monday, 22 May to Friday, 9 June, we invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School.

The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You are able to access the parent survey (20 different languages available) on your computer or mobile device.

There will be more details to come on how to access this survey.
