Our Year 12 School-Based Trainees (SBTs) have just completed their final block of training with TAFE Lecturer Dennis Chandler at the Trade Training Centre. While their traineeships will continue with ongoing workplace experience, this marks the completion of their formal training sessions under Dennis’s expert guidance.

A special thank you to Dennis for his dedication to training and mentoring our students. As he now heads into retirement, we wish him all the best for the future!

Well, done to our trainees for their hard work and commitment

The feedback from Day 1 has been fantastic—our students embraced the challenge, gained valuable hands-on experience, and had a great day all around!

A big thank you to BHP for supporting our students as they take this exciting next step in their training. We can't wait to see them continue to grow and develop their skills!

Clean-Up Australia Day

We encouraged our students to jump onboard and get involved in Clean Up Australia day and they didn't disappoint.  We had 14 students actively involved in collecting multiple bags of rubbish, which has earned each of them additional individual Rise-Up points. Good Standing Reward - All Years

"Students who maintained their Good Standing through to the mid-semester of Term 1 were rewarded with ice cream floats during lunch in Week 5.

They enjoyed vanilla ice cream paired with refreshing fizzy drink options, which were a perfect match for the hot Newman weather. We hope students not only enjoyed their sweet treat but also felt recognised for starting the year strong by adhering to uniform, attendance and behaviour expectations."

International Womens Day

Today marked International Women's Day for 2025 and what better way to celebrate than with our school community and sharing who inspires us.

Rise-Up put on a stall to do just that and offered wonderful cupcakes and cookies, supplied by a local mother and daughter duo (student attends NSHS) business in town "Baked With Love By SJ & Co" thank you so much for supporting our event.

Three of our Year 12 students were selected to attend an IWD luncheon held at Mia Mia, this was in joint venture with SCJV Sedgeman and Core Hub.  These ladies were able to hear the success story of Melissa Riganello Project Manager Western Ridge Crusher project, from when she commenced her working journey from hospitality through to her move into mining.

Pi Day

“March 14th (3/14) was all about Pi (π) Day, and our school had a fantastic time celebrating the never-ending number! Students kicked off the morning by colouring in the digits of Pi and creatively arranging them into a “3.1415 9265…” display.

In the library, Rise-Up, kept the excitement going by engaging the students in Pi-themed activities during recess and lunch, sparking curiosity about this mathematical marvel.

Meanwhile, our teachers indulged in some well-deserved pie delicacies for morning tea, because what’s Pi Day without a little treat?A big thank you to Romy Lee, Sarah Williams, and all the Maths teachers especially Mr Barrymore, Mr Miller and Mrs Bourgy, who participated and made the day both educational and delicious!
