Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Hang in there everyone! The cold weather has arrived and so have all the cold and flu bugs. It’s hard to believe there is only 3 weeks of school left for the term. Thank you to our wonderful teachers who have been working hard on student reports. It's a stressful time for teachers and students but I'm so proud to see all the progression students have made in the first half of the year.

Mt Buller Campus

This week we welcomed back Sue Steel to lead our Mt Buller Campus team. Sue’s 20 years of experience and wealth of local Buller knowledge has made my job very easy. We are so grateful that Sue comes back year after year to run our very unique and complex campus. This year our Mt Buller campus will have 3 classrooms with teachers Kate and Mike joining Sue on Mt Buller in the next few weeks. This year we have 5 local students heading up the mountain to join our Mt Buller campus for the winter. What an amazing opportunity!

School Uniform

I know it’s cold and I know children lose their jumpers daily but, there are many students out of uniform lately. Uniform is compulsory. If you need support to buy a uniform or find a secondhand uniform, please come and see me.

Have a great long weekend, we will see all students back on Wednesday 12th June!

Take care,

Nicole.

These are the bricks to commemorate our 150th. We would like to do another brick drive as we wish to continue with bricks around our flags. They look amazing. Details around another brick drive for our school will be communicated soon.

Division Cross Country

On Friday the 24th of May, 28 students from Mansfield Primary School competed in the Division Cross Country at the Yea Golf course. It was a cold, foggy morning as the bus departed MPS, we picked up students from St Marys and Steiner school and started our hour-long drive to Yea. We hopped out of the bus and the grass was still frosty, fog was laying low across the course, but Jack Frost would not stop the red and the blue!

We walked the course so that the 9 and 10 year old competitors would know their 2km track and the 11 and 12 year old competitors would know their 3km track. All the competitors ran extremely well on the day, especially the following students who made the top 12 and will go on to compete at Regionals in Benalla on the 21st of June: in the 9/10 year old category, Sienna Vivash, Scout Gardner, Hannah Dunn and Luca Scott. In the 11 year old category Olga Schierholter, Ruby Le Cerf, Matilda Evans, Lara Harrop, Cooper Hoebergen, Roy Mercieca, Hunter Day, Charlie Howie, Ryder Neely and Paxton Smith. In the 12/13 year old race Arrie Turner, Heidi Stumpf, Zac Borg, Angus Vasey, Jack Forrest, Will Hewitt and Will Friend. An amazing 21 students in total!!

Special shoutouts to these runners who also competed on the day and did really well representing Mansfield Primary School, Paris Hopwood, Audra McCallion, Georgia Crowe, Mali Smith, Levi Mccombe, Noah Heaysman and Raph Picone. 😊

Library News

On Tuesday mornings Emily Reynolds has been visiting our school to help in the library. Emily has been doing a wonderful job & her help has been very much appreciated!

Library Chairs

Dear MPS Community,

We have some lovely sturdy chairs that we can use in our library, but they need some love. We would prefer to re-use and upcycle them, rather than dump them!

They have some splitting on the vinyl and could really benefit from a reupholster to make them comfortable and gorgeous for our students to use.

If you know of anyone who has the skill and desire to reupholster these potential beauties (and would possibly donate this skill), could you please ask them to make contact with our lovely office staff.

Thank you
