Welcome back to school and the start of term 3. We are well and truly in the swing of things. It has been wonderful to welcome our brand new receptions and their families to Hallett Cove East. The children have certainly settled into school in a lively manner and created a real sense of fun for all.
This term we have so many events and activities planned including the annual Bookweek celebrations, a school disco, school photos and the culmination to the term being our school sports day. We look forward to seeing many of our community joining us at these special events.
Next week is Primary Education Week, a special time to acknowledge the vital role that primary education plays in laying the foundations for lifelong learning and success. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful school community at Hallett Cove East Primary School.
We are proud to provide a dynamic learning environment that nurtures curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. We recognise that primary education is about so much more than developing academic skills. It is about empowering every student with the knowledge, skills and personal dispositions they need to become confident, capable and compassionate learners.
Through engaging learning experiences, we strive to build independence, resilience and a genuine love of learning, supporting students to become curious thinkers who are willing to challenge themselves and embrace new opportunities. We celebrate diversity, encourage student agency, and provide opportunities for students to discover their strengths and make meaningful contributions to their school and wider community.
We also recognise that wellbeing is fundamental to learning success. Approaches such as The Resilience Project and Zones of Regulation provide students with practical strategies to understand and regulate their emotions, manage challenges and build positive relationships. By nurturing students’ social and emotional development alongside their academic growth, we help every child develop the confidence and resilience to thrive.
At the heart of our school is our strong and supportive community. Staff, families and students working together to create a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued and connected. This term, we are excited to welcome our new Mid-Year Reception students and their families to Hallett Cove East Primary School. A special welcome also goes to Chloe Baker, who is teaching our new Reception class, 4W.
Starting school is a big milestone, and it has been wonderful to see our newest students settling in, making new friends and becoming part of our school community. They have enjoyed exploring their classroom, learning new routines and joining in a range of fun literacy, numeracy and play-based learning experiences.
A big thank you to our families for your support as your children begin this exciting journey. We also appreciate the kindness of our staff and student buddies, who have helped make our new students feel welcome from day one.
We are looking forward to seeing our newest learners continue to grow in confidence and enjoy all that school has to offer. Welcome to the HCEPS family!

Welcome back to Term 3! It has been wonderful to see our students return with enthusiasm and settle back into school so quickly.
Term 3 is often one of the most settled and productive times of the school year. By this stage, students are familiar with their classroom routines, teachers, learning environments, and friendships. This sense of belonging and predictability helps students feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.
One way we can continue to support our children's wellbeing is by having meaningful conversations at home. Rather than asking, "How was your day?", try using some simple GEM Chats:
During the school holidays, Australia celebrated NAIDOC Week, with this year's theme, "50 Years of Deadly." This milestone celebrates 50 years of honouring the strength, resilience, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Throughout the week and weeks coming, our classes commemorate NAIDOC Week through a range of learning experiences that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives. We are privileged to learn, play and grow on Kaurna Country, and it has been wonderful to see our students developing their own connections with the land, local stories and the rich cultural heritage that surrounds us.

Volunteers are important to our school community. Our canteen relies on help from volunteers to deliver a meal service to our pupils.
To enable us to provide a varied recess and lunch menu offer to our pupils we really do need your help.
If you have a spare hour or more we would welcome your support.
Not registered with the school as a volunteer? Volunteer application packs are available from the front office containing all the information you need to submit your registration as a volunteer...... WE NEED YOU
The shop is stocked with a variety of second hand uniform items. The money raised is given back to the school and utilised in fundraising projects.
Remember that if you have any unused uniform items in good clean condition, we'd love to receive them. They can be left at the office anytime. Thank you.
