Childhood Separation Anxiety Seminar for parents of K-6

WWS has organised two seminars for parents in K-6 on Childhood Anxiety on Monday, December 2nd, 2024.  There was a high level of interest for these sessions previously. Parents will be offered practical advice on developing plans to assist students in managing their anxious thoughts, as well as being provided with resources and avenues for help if further support was required.

  • Small Steps Transition to High School - 4.15pm to 5.15pm. This workshop is aimed at parents of students moving into the high school setting.
  •  Small Steps Separation Anxiety for kindergarten students - 5.45pm to 7.00pm.  This workshop is aimed at parents of students transitioning to Kindergarten from pre-school.

The 'Fairy' Tree

By now many of you will have read my sad message about our beloved WWS ‘Fairy’ Tree. The tree has been assessed by expert arborists and has been classified as in significant decline, and as such, is at risk of failure. While this is a sad moment in our school’s history, the safety of our students must come first. Please be assured, I have already investigated suitable mature trees as a replacement. We know there will be some sad children (and parents), so we appreciate any time you may spend helping the children to understand why this is happening and why their safely is so important to us.

 Grandparents’ Day

A huge thank you to all of the Grandparents who attended Grandparents Day on November 8th.  As always, the event was extremely well attended and our students loved welcoming their loved ones into their classrooms and the playground. Thank you to all staff for their hard work in making the event a great success.

Kindergarten 2025

Our final Ready 4 School session took place this week. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our new 2025 kindies and their families and we can’t wait for them to start with us next year. A reminder to all 2025 kindy families, that the first day of school will now be on February 6th. This start date will be consistent with all public school in NSW.

BIKE SAFETY FOR KIDS

Dear Parents and Carers

Unfortunately after several reminders, we still have a large number of students riding bikes and scooters to school without wearing a helmet.

Our first concern is obviously for their safety and secondly, the police have recently suggested they will be patrolling the local area to ensure students are being compliant. If you are caught riding without a helmet you can face an on-the-spot fines of $344.

As student safety is our number one priority it would be greatly appreciated if all families could please assist us in ensuring helmets are worn daily.

Many thanks for your cooperation
