Body & Blood of Christ Sunday 11 June 2023

The Gospel (John 6: 52 - 53)

At this, the Jews started fighting among themselves: How can this man serve up his flesh for a meal? But Jesus didn’t give an inch. “Only insofar as you eat and drink flesh and blood, the flesh and blood of the Son of Man, do you have life within you”.

... On the way to Mass

For those children who have already made their First Holy Communion, ask them about their memories. For the younger children who have not yet made their First Holy Communion, ask what they look forward to.

On the way home from Mass ...

What do you think Jesus meant by saying, “I am the living bread”?

The Prayer

We pray, gracious God, that we might recognise you in the breaking of bread today. May we recognise you every time we join someone on a journey, every time we share a meal, every time we take bread in our hands. And may this recognition call forth such joy in us that we might never lose sight of your goodness. May it inspire such love in us that our hearts might continue to burn within us, keeping alive your memory and your promise. And may it provide such a longing for truth in us that we will never be satisfied until the whole earth experiences your justice and peace. Amen.

The Question of the Week

Staff/Parents

What does it mean for you right now to be bread for others as Jesus was?

Primary Students

In what ways can Jesus’ presence in the Eucharist help you do good things for others?

The Action

This week, consider the ratio of “junk food” in your life to the true food that Jesus offers. Plan a new diet, lessening the amount of time you surrender to useless, lifeless activity. Increase your intake of good food, inspiring stories, and real relationships.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent/Teacher interviews for Kindergarten to Year 6 will be held in Week 10 (week starting 26th June) of this term.

However, Parent/Teacher interviews for 4W will be held in Week 9 (week starting 19th June) of this term.

At these 15 minute interviews, parents will receive their child’s school report which explains his/her progress in the Key Learning Areas of:

  • Religious Education
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Human Society and its Environment
  • Science and Technology
  • Creative Arts
  • Personal Development
  • Health and Physical Education.

The reports using the E-A scale are for Years 1-6 while Kindergarten uses a three point scale report.

The process for booking a parent/teacher interview is outlined below:

· Please go to:    www.schoolinterviews.com.au

· Enter school event code: 8nh6w

· Enter your details: Full Name, Email Address, Child’s name and surname. (this is the only information required for your child).

Please ensure you book an interview time with the correct classroom teacher and allow 15 minutes (1 time slot) between bookings if you have more than one child.

The interview is of 15 minutes duration and if you need to discuss your child’s work further, an extra appointment will need to be made for a later date.

Parents are invited to bring their child to the interview to take part in the report discussion. The aim is to encourage students to take responsibility for their learning

Uniform Price Increase

Dear Parents,

Please see uniform price list effective 1st July 2023.

As of October, last year we have incurred price increases of 10% or more due to the rising cost of materials as well as labor costs. We have absorbed these costs up to now and are passing a fraction of these increases (5%) from the 1st of July 2023 rather than putting them up 1st January 2023. We have delayed the increase of our prices, having parents in mind as the bulk of the uniforms are purchased in January up to June (winter uniform change over) so it doesn't impact on parents buying their back-to-school uniforms. Nobody likes price increases, including myself, however we can only negotiate so much without affecting the quality of our garments as well as absorb so much in order to stay afloat which is why we are only passing on a 5% increase.
