Term 4 Week 1

Principal's Message

Greetings parents and carers

It has been wonderful to welcome our students back this week for the final school term in 2024. Our students have returned to school well rested and very focussed, ready for another busy 10 weeks of learning. I trust you enjoyed some quality family time with your children over the recent 2 week break.

NETWORK UPGRADE

Our school's ICT infrastructure was aging and in need of an upgrade to keep abreast of ongoing network changes and ensure efficient and stable wifi connectivity to support student learning. The department's IT team worked with JTC and AVE technologies during the recent break and the upgrade has taken place successfully. As a result, our students can now enjoy greater ease and stability of connectivity and faster Internet speeds when using school devices.

FAN INSTALLATION

During the school break we had two large fans installed in our MPF and they look fabulous! These fans are all thanks to our hard working P&C members who raised the funds to purchase and install them so our students will stay cool during the hot weather.

Fans purchased and installed by our P&C Association

RETAINING WALL CONSTRUCTION

Preparation has commenced for the demolition and reconstruction of the old retaining wall near the MPF. The large majority of this work is covered by the department's Asset Services team as part of planned school maintenance, and our P&C has provided the funds to cover the gap in these costs. As a result, this section of our playground will be cordoned off for a number of weeks which temporarily reduces the size of our playground area and restricts access to the school site through the Alma Road gates (on the traffic lights corner). I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our parents and carers. The construction timeline is approximately 8 weeks, so we are hoping that everything will be completed before our end of year presentation day.

Yours in public education

Band Boost Day

On Wednesday, 16 October, the band had the opportunity to go the Conservatorium for extra rehearsals prior to Bandfest. A big thank you to the parents who were able to transport our students and instruments. We arrived at 11am and had a tour of the Conservatorium and were then taken into the Concert Hall where Bandfest will be held this year. The students were set up on the stage and had some great rehearsal time. Lunch was a fun affair in the foyer with lots of positivity and laughter. A big thanks to our conductor Zac and tutors Naomi and Jeremy who made the day fun and productive. We are all looking forward to competing at Bandfest on Monday 4 November.

School Canteen News

Term 4

Term 4 is here, and I can’t wait to bring something new to the students each week as something fun for the last term of 2024.

There will be many options, so I’m sure everyone will find something to suit their canteen experience. A new section of the flexischools menu will be showing what is available. Each item will only last a maximum of 1 week unless there is excess stock. Some items are only available for 1 special day so please be mindful of that. Items are starting to appear on the flexischools app. There is a cut off for these special items which is midday Friday of the week before.

All items are approved within the healthy school canteen program except fairy bread day, however, this has been approved as a treat by the principal. These items are set up as preorders to allow for parents to decide if the choices are suitable for their child/ren.

I look forward to enjoying term 4 with all the students enjoying these specials. Please see the Term 4 poster below.
