Principal's Message

Dear Families,

It feels like Spring already!  Hopefully some snow this week helps keep the ski season ticking along.  Our first few days at the snow with our 4s and 6s were great.  Our 5s are out today for the first time.

Sabbatical Leave

The Department of Education has a ‘Sabbatical Leave Program’ available to all staff.  Under this program, staff work for 4 years on reduced pay to allow a year of leave in the 5th year.  Paula and I are a part of the program, and our 5th year is coming up in 2024.  We feel very lucky to be able to spend next year doing some study, some travel and a big hike.  An Acting Principal for 2024 will be appointed this term, hopefully by the end of August.

Aussie Trivia

Thank you to our wonderful P&F for organising the Aussie Trivia night on Saturday.  It was an excellent evening hosted by Mark Buscombe, in typical Mark Buscombe fashion.  P&F do a great job at arranging fundraisers that are also a great way for people to get together.

Students Arriving Before 8:30am

There have been a number of students arriving at school before 8:30am.  Please help us out by making sure you drop students off at 8:30am at the earliest.  Students will be asked to sit in the front office until 8:30am, when there are staff on Yard Duty.

Book Fair

During Book Week we will run our annual Book Fair.  The fair will be set up in the middle space in the Bunbunarrik building.  This is a major fundraiser for our library and classroom libraries.  Classes will have an opportunity to view books on Tuesday 22nd August.

The book fair will be open 8:30am – 9:00am on Wednesday 23rd, Thursday 24th and Friday 25th as well as 3:30pm – 4:00pm on Wednesday 23rd and Friday 25th.  Cash or Cards will be accepted.

If any families are able to support our book fair, please contact our front office.  Volunteers will be needed from 8:25am or from 3:25pm for about 40min.  It would be great to have a couple of people to help out Narelle and Elspeth each session.

Prep 2024 Enrolments

Our due date for enrolments is today.  2024 Prep families will be emailed confirmation of enrolment and documentation to complete today. If you know anyone who has children starting school next year and they are considering Mansfield Primary School, please ask them to contact the school.

Like always, please get in touch with us with any questions or concerns.  Call or email your classroom teacher, call the front office or email me tom.macmunn@education.vic.gov.au

Have a great weekend.

Take Care,

Tom

Hot Chocolate Day Thank You!

Huge thank you to all families that sent along coins to support our Hot Chocolate fundraiser last week.

We were able to raise $546 to support refugees arriving and settling in Australia.

Special thanks to Sarah Dunn and her parents for sourcing supplies and making over 500 hot chocolates that day! They were delicious.
