Term 4 Week 2!

World Teachers’ Day

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our dedicated teachers who inspire and nurture our students every day. Your passion, commitment, and hard work make a lasting difference in our school community.

A special thank you to our school's P & C for generously providing beautiful treats for our teachers to enjoy. Your support is truly appreciated and helps us celebrate the incredible work of our teaching staff.

Thank you to everyone who contributes to making our school such a wonderful place to learn and grow.

Preservice Teachers

Welcome to our preservice teachers! We are delighted to have you join our school community and look forward to supporting you as you begin your teaching journey. We hope your time here is both rewarding and inspiring. A special thank you to our dedicated classroom teachers who generously open their classrooms and share their expertise—your support is invaluable in shaping the next generation of educators. Wishing everyone a wonderful experience ahead!

Bandfest

We are fortunate this year to have three of our talented groups participating in Bandfest: our Mallet Group, Junior Band, and Senior Band. Bandfest offers a wonderful opportunity for our school bands to showcase the hard work and progress they have made throughout the year. It also allows them to observe other bands and receive valuable, constructive feedback from recognised musical experts. This event is not just a performance but a rich learning experience, fostering growth through listening, performing, and camaraderie, all within a fun and supportive atmosphere. We are proud of our students’ dedication and look forward to their continued musical journey.

School leaders 2026

I am excited to listen to our nominees for school leadership speeches this Thursday. Student leadership is a vital part of Year 6, and whether or not you are wearing a badge, I am confident that each and every one of you will lead our school with pride and enthusiasm in the year ahead.

Celebrating Swimming Success

We’re proud to announce Neave’s outstanding success at the National Swimming Championships, winning gold in the 100m and 50m backstroke, gold in the IM relay, and silver in the Freestyle relay. Congratulations, Neave — your hard work and talent inspire us all!

Jayden F and Tamira W-B from K6R shared their amazing maths work on additions using the jump strategy.

Fundraising Raffle Now Open – Support Nyikina Mangala Community School

Earlier this year, Caves Beach Public School reached out to remote Aboriginal communities to learn more about their culture and school life. We’re proud to share that Nyikina Mangala Community School connected with us, and we’ve since formed a meaningful partnership, beginning to learn from each other’s diverse community.

As part of this growing connection, we’re now raising funds to help Nyikina Mangala Community School install a shade sail, giving their students a safer and more comfortable outdoor area for learning and play.

We invite all families and community members to get involved in our fundraising raffle.

🎫 Tickets: Just $5 each! The more you buy, the more chances you have to win one of these fantastic prizes:

🏆 1st Prize: Cyclops 7 speed mountain bike 🥋 2nd Prize: Ten lessons with Caves Beach Karate 🏄 3rd Prize: Surf pack including a Learn to Surf Newcastle lesson + two Waxxed Water Hats

📅 Raffle closes: Thursday, 6 November at 3pm.

📅 Raffle drawn: Friday, 7 November at our school assembly.

Every ticket sold supports this special partnership and makes a real difference.

Canberra Excursion

Students from Year 6 recently visited Canberra and completed an educational tour of our national capital. They engaged in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government contributed $30 in funding per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program. The rebate is paid directly to the school and assisted in subsidising the overall cost.

Excursion to Jewells PS

Todays' visit to Jewells Public School was a very enjoyable and an enriching experience - we learnt some interesting facts about White's Seahorses and the importance of seahorse hotels in providing safe habitats for countless of seahorses because the White’s Seahorse is now listed as Endangered.

Stage 2 students explained how they constructed three sea horse hotels using biodegradable materials and metal, which rusts away in the seawater. They also went to Port Stephens to watch ten hotels being deployed into the ocean, 200 metres from the shore.

Thank you Mrs Carey and Stage 2 students from Jewells Public School.

Grow Your Mind

Now that we have learnt who each of our Grow Your Mind animals are and the valuable benefits they have for our mental health. The next step, is to understand how to use them.

With us all returning to school this week, what better way to look after each other than by showing kindness. When we are kind, we SHRINK our Guard Dog and we GROW our Wise Owl! We are rewarded with a feeling of happiness.

How will you show kindness this week?

.Introducing Joshua Honeysett

  • I am completing my professional experience placement in Year 4T for three weeks. This is my second year at the Western Sydney University studying the Bachelor of Education. Having worked as an SLSO for the past three years has given me a greater understanding of classrooms and students.
  • I am proud Wiradjuri descendant and proud of my culture. I enjoy playing the didgeridoo and making boomerangs.  I used to play rugby union in Sydney for Manly, and I love fishing and Redhead is my favourite beach.
  • I enjoy working with many students across all year levels, supporting their cultural and physical education and learning needs. I am thankful for the opportunity to be at Caves Beach Public School
