St Mary's Newsletter

Term 4 - Week 8 (5th December, 2025)

Dear St Mary's School Community,

Christmas is nearly here!

And I’d encourage us all to remind ourselves and the children in our care to consider the real message behind Christmas.

Why do we celebrate Christmas? Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ is more than a Christian holiday or Christian festival. It is more than an occasion to decorate our houses. It is an opportunity to pause and give thanks for the love, hope and joy found in Jesus – our Saviour and friend.

Focus Value: : Forgiveness

We accept apologies and give others the opportunity to do the right thing and to have another chance.

Curious Minds Visit

A huge thank you to Skye Wilson from Curious Minds (and former St Mary’s student) for conducting some super fun STEM activities in classes this week. Skye planned and resourced each activity and presented the projects to each class in a fun and engaging manner.

  • The Year 5/6 class designed, built and tested marble runs.
  • The Year 4/5 class designed, built and tested bridges.
  • The Year 2/3 class made snowmen using water and bi-carbonate of soda, then watched their masterpiece disappear with the addition of vinegar!
  • The Year 1 class designed, built and tested aluminium foil boats.

Thanks again, Skye! We all had an amazing time and appreciate your efforts.

Class News

Pre-Kindy

It has been a busy and joyful term in Pre-Kindy! The children have loved getting into the Christmas spirit through a range of fun and creative activities. We have been busy making Christmas crafts and creating our own salt dough ornaments, which the children loved decorating with glitter (sorry parents).

Alongside our craft activities, we have also been practising for our upcoming Christmas concert. The children have been learning their songs with great enthusiasm and are very excited to perform for their families.
