Dear JPS Families,
We have just one week of term left before the holidays! It has been a big 11-week term, and our students (as well as teachers and parents) should be really proud of how they've kept their motivation and engagement up right to the end.
Despite the fatigue starting to set in, students have been working hard rehearsing for Southern Stars with Mrs Peterson and Mrs Behl-Shanks, taking on some pretty challenging choreography along the way — a great example of the energy and enthusiasm they've kept up all term.
On Tuesday, Jamberoo Public School was one of just three schools in the Shoalhaven Network chosen for a visit from relieving Executive Director Meg Avery, along with our own Director Educational Leadership, Bill Field. I was joined by a group of students who proudly took Mrs Avery and Mr Field on a tour of the forest, explaining the ins and outs of base building and the safety precautions we take when playing there. Both visitors thoroughly enjoyed their time in the Jamberoo forest and were genuinely impressed by the students' base building know-how, as well as their confidence and enthusiasm throughout the tour.
Our annual athletics carnival was another highlight of the week, and we couldn't have asked for better winter sunshine. It was wonderful to see students getting involved in every event, having a go, having fun, and cheering on their friends. A big thank you to all of the parents and caregivers who came along to help with set-up, volunteered throughout the day, and stayed back to help pack up — and to everyone who came to support and encourage from the sidelines. A special thank you to Mrs Kunkler, who put in so much time organising the day, and to Katie from Albion Park Little Athletics for generously giving up her time to help out. In a small school, the support of our families and community is what makes events like this possible, and we loved hearing all the positive encouragement throughout the day.
Student reports will be sent home this Thursday. Reports are a great opportunity to sit down with your child and celebrate their achievements this semester, as well as to chat about what they might like to focus on next term. As always, if you have any questions about your child's report, please don't hesitate to get in touch with your child's teacher.
On a fun note, a group of our staff are gearing up to take on the parents at the P&C Trivia Night this Saturday. A big thank you to the P&C for all their hard work organising what is sure to be a fabulous night. We hope to see many of you there enjoying a great night out.
