Moorditj Noongar Community College Newsletter

Term 2 ~ Week 11 ~ 27 June 2024

Messages From the Principal

Acting Principals Address

Moorditj has had another busy term filled with culture, activity, and learning. Our students have had a wonderful term including our Sports carnivals, attending the Mulpirrmarra tennis competition, and hosting Interschool Cross country. An amazing learning experience through an incursion by Yirra Yakkin performance company. We have shared our love of reading by participating in National Simultaneous Storytime.

Home Reading

Home Reading is an important part of our literacy strategy at Moorditj Noongar Community College. It is important that children read every night for at least 10 minutes. We will send home a variety of books that are at their appropriate level. Students that get their home reading books folders signed, will earn books every 20 nights at assembly.

Kindy Enrolments and KindiLink

We have our new Kindergarten 2025 students' enrolments now open please contact our front office or Ms. Emma for a school tour or more information on 9374 8800

KindiLink runs Wednesdays and Fridays at Moorditj from 9.30 am-12.30 pm for children aged O-4 years. We hope to see you there!

Staff leaving

We have some staff changes and staff leaving the school at the end of this Semester. Mr Pete Freeman will be returning as our school Principal.  We also have some leaving us at the end of this semester for other opportunities. We would like to wish Ms Kaye Few all the best and enjoy her retirement. Ms Chrissy Stewart will not be returning, and I wish her well in her future endeavours. Ms. Melissa Bill is taking leave for the next 6 months but will still be a part of our wider community working in a health role at the Midvale Hub.

Term Three

Term Three is looking to be very busy. Moorditj will celebrate NAIDOC in week two with cultural activities being conducted every day of the week. We also have Book Week and Science Week and several incursions and excursions to keep the students engaged. We have our Year 6 students beginning their transition to high school. Make sure that your children come to school every day, there is always something happening at Moorditj!

Thank you to Mr Conduit for Semester 1 2024

We would like to thank Mr. Brett Conduit for his leadership over the last 6 months at Moorditj in Mr. Pete Freeman’s absence. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Lastly, I would like to wish all students, staff, and our wider community a lovely July school holidays and a well-deserved break after 11 weeks. We will see students back on Tuesday, July 16.
