National Reconciliation Week -27 May- 3 June
This year’s theme for National Reconciliation Week is:
Be a voice for Generations
The theme encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise.
National Reconciliation Week – 27 May to 3 June – is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Havenlee School acknowledges Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians; as individuals, families, communities, organisations and as a nation. We try to facilitate relationships with Aboriginal families to show respect for this journey, to continue to learn more about Aboriginal history, culture and achievements and ultimately enable the best outcomes for their children.
Arborist
An Arborist came recently to do tree audit on all the trees in both Havenlee and North Nowra Schools. We have received the subsequent report and as a result will be following up on its recommendations. We have two trees that need to be removed. As a consequence, early next week the sensory playground will be fenced off while arborists are removing a tree.
Freedom Wheels
Last Friday, 26th May, Freedom Wheels came to our school to present a modified bike to a student and put on a show for some of the students. Wattle, Myrtle and Lilli Pilli classes went up to the hall and enjoyed a visit from a “Dora” character and a "R2-D2" robot. A big thank you to Freedom Wheels for donating the modified bike and putting on the event at the school. Please see below information on Freedom Wheels.
