Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to the Newsletter for Week 4. In 2026, two major areas we are focusing on are:
Priority 1:
Deliver an engaging English curriculum, with a deep focus on literacy (reading), through whole-school frameworks for data analysis, curriculum alignment and expert pedagogical practices that “open up A-level thinking” for every student.
Priority 2:
Develop cohesive whole-school student support systems and practices, aligned to a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework, to increase consistency, reduce behavioural challenges and ensure all students are supported to engage and succeed in their learning
Staff Update
I am pleased to let you know that Miss Jessica Smith has been permanently transferred to Beerwah SS this week. She will be the teacher of 5/6C. Miss Smith is an experienced teacher and comes highly recommended from Sunshine Beach State School.
Year 5/6 Camp
This year we will be holding a combined Year 5/6 Camp at QCCC Mapleton from 12th – 14th August as our 2026 class structure contains three 5/6 composite classes.
More details regarding camp will be sent home later this term.
AFL Clinic
Thank you to Ms Murphy who organised AFL Queensland to visit our school, giving students the opportunity to improve their AFL skills during HPE lessons and lunch times this week.
P&C
The P&C Association has a direct and positive impact on the quality of education our students receive. Here are just a few ways the P&C contributes to the school community:
· Fundraising for School Resources: The P&C raises funds to provide additional resources for the school. This could be in the form of new equipment, technology, educational programs, or special activities that are not covered by the school’s regular budget.
· Enhancing the School Environment: Whether it's improving playground facilities, beautifying the grounds, or contributing to building projects, the P&C helps ensure that our school is a safe, welcoming, and well-equipped place for students to learn.
· Organising Events and Activities: The P&C organises a range of community-building events, such as school fundraisers, social gatherings, and special recognition days. These events help foster a sense of belonging and school spirit, and give families the opportunity to come together in support of the school community.
· Voice of the Parents: The P&C provides a platform for parents to voice their opinions, concerns, and suggestions. It creates an open dialogue between parents and school leadership, ensuring that the needs and perspectives of the parent body are heard and considered.
Positive Community Engagement: Strengthening Connections
One of the most powerful aspects of the P&C is its ability to foster positive community engagement. When parents, teachers, and local community members come together, they build strong connections that benefit not only the school but also the wider Beerwah community. Here’s why positive engagement matters:
· Creating a Supportive Environment for Students: When parents and teachers collaborate, students benefit from a stronger support network. They see firsthand how much their education matters to the adults in their lives, and they are motivated to do their best. Engaged parents are more likely to support learning at home and encourage their children’s involvement in school activities.
· Building a Sense of Belonging: The P&C works to create an inclusive and welcoming school culture. By organising events and activities that involve the whole family, we make sure that everyone feels part of the Beerwah State School community, regardless of background or circumstances.
· Strengthening Local Connections: A strong P&C helps connect the school with local businesses, services, and community groups. This creates opportunities for collaboration and mutual support. Local businesses may donate goods or services for school events, and the school community may participate in local initiatives, fostering a sense of pride in our neighbourhood.
· Role Modelling for Our Students: When parents are involved in school activities, they set a positive example for their children. It shows students the importance of giving back to their community and encourages them to become active, engaged citizens in the future.
How Can You Get Involved?
Becoming involved in the P&C is easy and open to all families within the Beerwah State School community. Whether you have a little or a lot of time to spare, there are various ways to contribute:
· Attend P&C Meetings: Meetings are typically held on the 3rd Monday of each month throughout the year. They are a great opportunity to learn more about what’s happening at the school and how you can contribute.
· Volunteer at Events: Whether it’s helping to set up for a fundraising event, assisting with school activities, your time and effort can make a huge difference.
· Make a Donation: If you’re unable to volunteer your time, consider making a financial contribution to support the P&C’s initiatives.
· Share Your Ideas: The P&C is always looking for new ideas and fresh perspectives. If you have suggestions on how to improve the school or enrich the student experience, don’t hesitate to share them with the P&C.
The P&C Association at Beerwah State School is an essential part of what makes our school community so special. Through their commitment, support, and positive engagement, parents, citizens, and staff come together to create an enriching environment where our students can flourish. We encourage all families to consider getting involved, whether through attending meetings, volunteering, or simply lending a hand when needed. Together, we can continue to build a strong and supportive school community that benefits everyone.
If you’d like to learn more about the P&C or how you can get involved, please contact the school office or attend the next P&C meeting on Monday 16th March at 5:00pm. This meeting will be followed by our AGM Meeting where all positions will be open for nominations.
We look forward to working with you to support our students to be the best that they can be.
Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you soon.
