Principal's Message - Kim Fraser

A very warm welcome back!

A very big welcome to the many new families who have joined the CPS community.

We had the most amazing start to the year. The students were so eager to get back to school; some were here at 7.50am with bleary-eyed parents in tow!

It was genuinely a seamless and extremely happy first day for everyone.

We warmly welcome two new staff members, Mrs. Julia Pember, year 5, and Mr. Kirk Flemming, year 6.

I was extremely proud and honoured to share with staff the awesome news that CPS is one of the highest-ranking schools in NAPLAN academic performance, demonstrating outstanding achievement over three years. We were presented with a Certificate of Commendation from the Hon. Dr. Tony Buti, MLA, and Lisa Rodgers, Director, General Education Department.  This honour is due to the collective commitment of the staff and leadership team, who continually focus on quality teaching practices and on every student achieving growth in their learning.

Communication is an ongoing focus. We endeavour to cover all areas of school life, ensuring families are across school information. Our communications are broken into three main areas:

1. Seesaw: for class information and communications.

2. Audiri: for operational information, i.e., notes for excursions, reminders, and current, immediate news.

3. Newsletter: for sharing celebrations and “What’s happening".

Our web page is also used for lots of information when required; it also stores newsletters, calendars, P & C and Board information, etc.

Class communication has also been a focus. Teachers will continue to provide parents with weekly general overviews of what is happening in your child’s class. This is a way for you to communicate directly to the teacher. While the teacher will always be in contact if there are any concerns or to share wonderful celebrations, we encourage parents to not hesitate to contact the teacher if you would like to discuss anything concerning your child. It is not practicable for a teacher with 24–30 children in their class to contact every parent on a weekly basis; however, their line of communication is always open.

Our amazing P & C are already up and running and have organised the annual, extremely popular Welcome Picnic for all CPS families. This is such a wonderful event, especially for new families to meet and get to know other families.
