P&C...

Could you be our next P&C Treasurer?

Could you be the next P&C Treasurer?

Our amazing treasurer of 3 years, Paul Galpin is sadly stepping down and we need to source a replacement before our AGM on 13 March. As a key member of the P&C Executive, we would need you to assist with the finances and the annual audit (see role description below). You would also have the direct opportunity to help shape the direction of Balmain P.S. and contribute to the success of the school and the students. This is a key role which we need to fill. Members of the community with a vested interest in the school (grandparents, alum) may also apply. If you would like to chat further about the role, Paul, our current treasurer would be happy to chat: 0466-497-010 or reach out to balmainpspc@gmail.com

Role Description:

P&C Treasurer (outgoing Paul Galpin)

  • Provides transparency over the financial position inclusive of reporting of all cash flows at monthly meetings;
  • Takes a lead on banking and cash-handling processes and queries;
  • Provides financial reporting support and oversight for events;
  • Prepares annual accounts, organises the audit of them and presents the results at the AGM.

***COMPASS IS OUR MAIN FORM OF COMMUNICATING WITH YOU***In case of urgent/important communication, notifications via the Compass app on your phone will keep you informed***

To ensure you receive all communication via Compass, please have the app downloaded on your phone, with the notifications turned ON.

Although the school pushes out notifications via the app and email, there may be times when an important message may be missed as emails may sometimes not be checked regularly.

If there were to be an emergency, (hopefully not), information would be pushed out via Compass.

SPOTLIGHT ON...

1/2 WARTHOG!!!

A Fantastic Start to Term 1 for 1/2 Warthogs! Hello everyone! Our 1/2 Warthogs class has kicked off Term 1, and while it's felt like a bit of a whirlwind, we're swiftly getting into the swing of things. We've been hard at work, diving deep into narrative writing, soaking up our sight words, and exploring engaging topics like data, months of the year, and whole number. These first few weeks have been chock-full of learning and laughter, setting a harmonious tone for the year.

A major highlight has been our footsteps program, where we've been moving to the rhythm of "Butter" by BTS. It's an absolute delight! Our Friday fitness rotations have also been keeping us active and energized. On top of that, we've had a blast in our initial STEM, music, library, art, and PDHPE classes. It's been an incredible journey discovering new interests and showcasing the wonderful talents within our Warthog family.

Investigations have quickly become a favourite activity, eagerly anticipated by many and by far our most requested lesson. We are focusing on enhancing our design briefs and spending several days on a single investigation station to fully complete tasks. This approach has been particularly enlightening for our year ones, who are now appreciating the immense benefits of concentrated effort on a project. The amazing projects that have already come from this focused work are a testament to the deep, meaningful learning happening in our class. Here's to a year brimming with curiosity, creativity, and memorable learning experiences!

PS: We are exceptionally excited about our visit to the zoo next week!!! Can you believe it?!? Though we're calling ourselves the Warthogs, we'll have to keep our eyes peeled for any sign of our namesake—though, between us, spotting a real warthog might be a bit of a long shot! But who knows? Maybe we'll be surprised!
