Happy Holidays!

It's almost hard to believe that we've come to the end of Term 3 already...it's certainly been another jam-packed term of learning and fun! You can check it all out on Instagram @balmainps.

Enjoy the Spring break with your families and friends and see you back on Monday 9 October. Happy holidays!

Maria Lambos | Principal

On Wednesday the 20th of September, 32 students accompanied by Mr Baumann and Ms Archibald, took a bus to ES Marks Athletics track to represent Balmain Public School in all different events. All the students showed their Balmain Spirit and cheered each other on to victory. Even though it was really hot (36 degrees!!), morale was still high and everyone had a great time. Thank you to all of the students who came, you demonstrated the Balmain Way brilliantly. Well done to everyone who made it through to the next round. Bravo!!! We have 11 students going through to the next stage at Regionals, with 1 new zone record set and 4 Balmain students making the top 3 in their respective age championships. A special thanks to Mr Baumann and Mrs Archibald who helped with running events, making sure students got to their events on time and just dealing with the Balmain students. Thank you so much for your help, it wouldn’t have run any smoother if you hadn’t showed up. by Indi M & Miles E

Welcome to the family, Ms Mannion!

Hi, my name is Aoife Mannion.

I am a primary school teacher from Ireland. I arrived in Australia in September 2022. I have spent the past year teaching, travelling and getting to know this beautiful new country.

I had my first teaching experience when I was a teenager as a coach in my local gymnastics club. I instantly fell in love with it and decided teaching was the path I was going to follow. I graduated with a B.Ed. in Education and Psychology from University Limerick in 2020. During my degree, I worked in many different schools around Ireland. I also travelled to Uganda to teach in schools there. Before moving to Australia, I worked as a primary teacher and gymnastics coach in my hometown in Co. Westmeath.

I enjoy reading, art and being outdoors. After school you will probably find me doing one of those three things! I am very excited to join the Balmain PS team in Term 4. I look forward to working in the school community and with my new students in 5/6C.

To ensure you receive all communication via Compass, please have the app downloaded on your phone, with the notifications turned ON.

Although the school pushes out notifications via the app and email, there may be times when an important message may be missed as emails may sometimes not be checked regularly.

If there were to be an emergency, (hopefully not), information would be pushed out via Compass.

SPOTLIGHT ON...

5/6 RAGI!!!!!

Year 6 Bazaar From Ada C, June M and Ella W: Tuesday week 10 was our year 6 bazaar. It took a lot of preparation and hard work from us year 6’s and from 5/6R. We needed to make sure everything was organized and planned out carefully. On Tuesday, it was 36 degrees celcius- burning hot. Some of the stalls were a boba stall, haunted house, spiders, sponge throw at the teachers, decorate your own cupcake, multiple carnival game stalls and many more. We raised $3,460.35 that day! Wowee!! We learned about managing money, and that depending on the conditions, different stalls did better, we have to be flexible, and you might need to have a plan B. Overall, the day was very successful and fun. Thank you to all that participated and purchased from our bazaar.

Year 5 Integration Time From Panya S & Kayden Y: On the days leading up to the year 6 bazaar, 5/6 Ragi Year 5 students had integration time with the year 5s in the other classes. We had multiple sport sessions and had some time while checking t-shirt sizes for future year 6 clothing. We also did plenty of quizzes, each including a prize of positive peats to challenge your mind and knowledge of things. It was plenty of fun and I had a lot of time with the mainstream to get to know them better. Overall, it was a good time in life.

5/6 BUCATINI!!!!!

How many students can fit in a cubic metre?? 5/6 Bucatini had to estimate, explore and measure then build a cubic metre. It turns out approximately 13 students can fit inside (standing)!!
