Plattsburg Public School Newsletter

April 2025, Term 1 Week 10

A Message from the Principal

Dear Plattsburg Community,

I would like to extend a thank you to all our students who consistently arrive on time, dressed in full school uniform, and ready to engage in learning each day. Your commitment to being prepared and present is truly commendable and contributes to a positive learning environment for everyone.

A special thank you to 3/4LT for their flexibility and resilience in adapting to learning in the library while their classroom undergoes necessary work. We appreciate your patience and adaptability, and we hope to have your classroom fully operational at the start of Term 2.

Last Friday, we had an excellent Values Gala Day, and I want to express my gratitude to the entire community for coming out to support this special event. Your involvement and enthusiasm help make these days memorable and meaningful for our students.

We were excited to welcome a Paralympian on Friday to speak with our students. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to hear an inspiring story of perseverance and dedication. Additionally, our Cross Country Trials were held this Friday, thank you to all students who gave their best effort as they competed for a spot at the Zone competition.

Next week will be action-packed with a variety of events:

  • Monday: Movie Day – a fun reward for our students’ hard work this term.
  • Wednesday: Easter Hat Parade – a wonderful tradition showcasing creativity and community spirit.
  • Thursday: Our school’s ANZAC assembly – a solemn occasion to honour those who served and sacrificed for our country.
  • Friday: Athletics Carnival – an exciting way to end the term with some healthy competition and school spirit.
In addition, our school leaders will be representing Plattsburg Public School at Callaghan College Jesmond Senior Campus during the last week of term. They will be attending a Leadership Day and the network ANZAC Assembly, and we are proud to have them participate in these important events.

A reminder that our Kindergarten to Year 2 parent forum regarding Sounds Write will be held in the school hall on Monday, 7th April, at 2:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for Kindergarten to Year 2 parents to learn more about our literacy programs and how we support students in their reading and writing development.

Looking ahead to Term 2, students will return to school on Wednesday, 30th April after two Staff Development Days for our teachers. We appreciate your support in ensuring a smooth transition back into learning.

Thank you all for your continued dedication and involvement in our school community. Wishing everyone a fantastic end to the term and a restful break ahead.

Please reach out if you have any questions during the end of term.

Regards,

Dave Hopson
