Moorditj Noongar Community College Newsletter

Term 4 ~ Week 10 ~ 11 December 2024

Messages From the Principal

Principals Address

We have all made it! 2024 has certainly been a busy one for families, students, and staff alike. I would like to commend our children and teachers for their efforts at the Christmas and Graduation Concert. I think it was the most polished production that our students have put on and would like to thank our hardworking canteen ladies for the lovely morning tea.   Please have a safe and happy Christmas holiday and know that we are looking forward to 2025 with enthusiasm.

2025 School Year

Students return to school on Wednesday 5th February 2025. The Moorditj admin office will be staffed from Wednesday 29th January if you wish to purchase uniforms or obtain book lists. Please contact the school if you are relocating to a different area or changing schools in 2025. The compiling of class lists is a complicated one. Considerations such as student behaviours, academic needs and social/emotional needs are all thoroughly worked through when placing students. For this reason, we are generally unable to make changes to these lists.

Staff Changes

We are very lucky to have minimal changes to our staffing profile in 2025. Our Technology teacher Ms Vanessa is taking maternity leave in 2025 as she welcomes her second child early in the new year. Ms Catherine who taught in KindiLink and Pre Primary is moving to a Community Kindy role. Mrs Gray is also taking some well-deserved leave next year, but we hope to have her pop in and provide relief from time to time. I would like to sincerely thank these three educators, for their massive contribution to Moorditj throughout the years.

We will be welcoming Mr Kobi a local Noongar musician and experienced teacher of language, culture and music to our school in 2025. Ms Josie is returning to the KindiLink she successfully ran throughout 2023. I would like to congratulate Ms Emma Colquhoun for winning the Permanent Deputy position at Moorditj in the last few days.

Graduating Students

I would like to wish our 2025 graduating students the very best as they embark on their high school adventure. I would like to thank Ms Carmen and Ms Kim for their efforts to ensure that the children are prepared for the transition. Work hard, attend every day and do your personal best. This will ensure the best possible chance of success.

Attendance results found that classes with the lowest results were at a greater educational risk through non-attendance. Please continue to send students to school each school day when they are well.

If your child is going to be absent from the morning bus run, please message your child’s bus aide so the bus doesn’t have to go to your address.  A letter with their contact details was sent out at the end of Term 2.
