Dear Families,
I can’t believe we’re already nearing the end of Week 5. We’ve officially made it through the halfway point of the term. It’s really common at this time of the term for students to be tired and not as excited about school as they were in week 1. Your child might even get a bit upset leaving you in the morning. This is temporary! It may take a few days or even a few weeks but it will pass and the most important thing you can do is keep bringing them to school. Our principal class team along with our wellbeing staff are out in the yard each morning to support you and your children transition into the school day. Please reach out to your child’s teacher and our wellbeing team if your child is finding the transition into school challenging, there is lots of different ways we can support you and your child. You don’t have to manage on your own.
Well done to all our Yr 3 to 6 students who competed at our District Swimming day. I have had some great feedback about the effort and behaviour of our swimmers. Good luck to our swimmers who are off to Division Swimming this Friday. A huge thank you to Kelly Farrell for all her work organising the event.
Assemblies
This year we are giving assemblies a refresh. We want assemblies to be engaging and interesting for both students and parents. Each assembly some students will be performing musical items and others will be reporting on things that are happening in their classrooms. Assemblies will also end with some loud music and dancing. Please can along and join the party.
Assemblies are every second Friday at 2:45pm.
Parent Information Evening and Picnic
Thank you to all our staff for putting together such a relaxed and informative evening last night. It was wonderful to see kids playing in the yard and parents chatting together, looking through classrooms and relaxing in the school. Thank you to our parents and carers for attending, many parents running from basketball or swimming or dance to make it. We know how busy families are with work and afterschool activities, the fact that you made time for us means a lot.
If you weren’t able to make it, we understand. We are putting out the Parent Handbook for each year level on the app later in the week. My goal this year is to give families as many opportunities as possible to touch base with teachers and come and spend time in our wonderful school.
School Council Elections
Nominations for the Mansfield Primary School Council are held each year. Council has 8 parent members, 5 staff members and 2 community members. The term for each member is 2 years. Meetings are held twice a term on a Monday evening and members join a subcommittee or working group. The school council works with the school to directly influence the quality of education that the school provides for its students.
This year we are seeking nominations for 4 parent members. Nomination forms will be available at the office now and will close this Friday 1st March. If you have any questions, or would like further information, please contact me Nicole.comerford@education.gov.au or the school office.
