Principal’s Report

As we reach the end of another school year, I want to pause and say a very sincere thank you to our entire school community.

This year has been filled with learning, laughter, growth and connection. Our students have challenged themselves, supported one another and shown us every day what it means to be curious, kind and resilient. I am incredibly proud of the way they have embraced new learning, celebrated their successes and grown in confidence as learners and young people.

Year 6 Graduation was a special and memorable celebration of our students’ final year of primary school. It was wonderful to reflect on how much they have grown, to celebrate their achievements, and to share this milestone with families and staff. We are incredibly proud of each student and wish them every success as they take their next steps into secondary school.

Last night I spoke of families that are leaving MPS after multiple children and many years, I said that I’m always reluctant to name people as inevitably I would forget someone, and I did.

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Brett Smith and the Smith family for their 17-year history at MPS. On Friday we say goodbye to Pax Smith, the last of 5 Smith children to attend the school. Brett, you tricked me with an 8-year gap between the first 3 and last 2.  Thank you for being so understanding today when we soke and thank you for all your years at MPS.

To our staff, past and present, thank you for your professionalism, care and commitment. The work you do each day goes far beyond the classroom. You create safe, engaging and inspiring environments where children feel valued and supported, and that impact lasts a lifetime. Our school is the place it is because of you.

To our families and carers, thank you for your trust, partnership and ongoing support throughout the year. Schools are strongest when families and educators work together, and we are fortunate to have such an engaged and supportive community. Your encouragement, communication and involvement make a genuine difference.

As we head into the holiday break, I hope this time allows everyone to rest, recharge and enjoy time with family and friends. Whether your plans include travel, adventure or simply slowing down, I wish you a safe and relaxing break.

Thank you once again for another amazing year. I feel incredibly grateful to lead such a wonderful school community and look forward to what the new year will bring.

Wellbeing Wrap Up

Hello all families,

2025 has been a meaningful year for wellbeing at Mansfield Primary School. A major highlight was the launch of our new school values — Bravery, Kindness, Inclusion and Respect — proudly developed through a collaborative process involving students, parents and staff. These shared values now guide the way we learn, connect and care for one another every day and we look forward to expanding on this further next year. We also introduced our Value Awards at assembly, each accompanied by a badge representing one of our school values. Every badge features a symbol designed by students, making them a special and meaningful part of our school culture. Award recipients can now wear their badges with pride as they work towards collecting all four values. Keep an eye out next year for an epic “All-Rounder” badge, currently in development, which will be awarded to students who achieve all four value badges.

Throughout the year, families engaged in a range of take-home activities that strengthened the connection between school and home, linking closely with our Respectful Relationships (RRRR) program and The Resilience Program (TRP). These activities encouraged conversations, reflection and practical wellbeing strategies that support our students both in and out of the classroom. Selected students also completed the SAS program with Fi and Maggie, where they explored thoughts and feelings in greater depth and developed skills as expert agents in social problem solving. Other students took part in the BRAVE program to support anxiety, while many more engaged meaningfully with their wellbeing journals. How lucky are we to have Fi and Maggie supporting our students so thoughtfully and passionately!

We also came together as a whole school community to participate in a range of significant wellbeing and community-focused events, including Buddy Day, Do It For Dolly Day, Bullying. No Way! Week, Clean Up Australia Day, and R U OK? Day. These whole-school experiences provided valuable opportunities for students to build connections, practise empathy, take responsibility, and reinforce positive behaviours aligned with our school values.

As we head into the holidays, we recognise that this time of year can be exciting but also stressful for some. We encourage families and students to seek support when needed and to prioritise wellbeing, connection and rest.

Thank you to our whole school community for your ongoing commitment to wellbeing. We are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together in 2025 and are looking forward to an epic 2026 filled with growth, connection and continued care for one another.

MPS Slime Run - Fundraiser - THANK YOU!

Mansfield Primary School is delighted to celebrate the outstanding success of our recent School Colour Run, held on Friday 28th November at the Mansfield Recreation Reserve. The event was proudly organised by the Mansfield Primary Parents and Friends Committee, who created a fun-filled course that had students smiling from start to finish.

Participants completed a lap around the football oval which involved tackling an exciting series of obstacles, including sprinting through sprinklers and getting a cool spray from local CFA volunteers, weaving their way through the ‘Tent City’ gazebo maze, navigating a specially designed gymnastics course, bouncing through an inflatable ring and octopus crawl, and finally wading through slime-filled blow-up pools. The course finished at the big blow-up arch, where icy poles awaited every participant in the ‘Fun Zone’ - a much-appreciated treat on a warm day.

It was an incredible fundraising effort by all students and the entire Mansfield community, raising over $35,000. These funds will go directly towards installing new chilled drink taps and creating improved down ball courts for our students to enjoy in the years ahead.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our amazing parent volunteers, whose dedication and hard work made this event possible. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our wonderful teachers and staff for getting involved, cheering students on, and helping create such a memorable experience. We also extend our gratitude to the Booroolite CFA volunteers for bringing their fire truck and their hose expertise, and the Mansfield Shire Events team for providing additional games and equipment for the day.

Students have been raving that it was “the best day ever,” and we wholeheartedly agree. The community’s spirit and support made this year’s Colour Run one they’ll remember for years to come.

Thank you Mansfield community, for your incredible support!
