Term 3 Week 9 and Week 10 - 14th - 25th September 2026

Principal's Blog

Welcome back to Term 4 2026!

As always, this term will be packed full of activities for our students with some additional events happening for our Yr 6 students.

This Friday we are welcoming our grandparents into the school for Grandparents Day. We have a varied number of activities in place and look forward to sharing them with all our wonderful grandparents.

Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, we have a significant number of students attending Band camp. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to receive intensive tuition in a relaxed and fun setting. After Band camp Mrs Scott will be commencing the recruitment process for new band members. If your child is interested, please speak Mrs Scott or your classroom teacher for further information.

Kindergarten Transition

In week 3 we start our formal Kindergarten transition sessions. On Tuesday new parents for kindergarten 2027 will be on site to receive information for the following year. New students will start the first of four transition sessions, in the current Kindergarten rooms, participating in a series of activities, meeting their buddies and learning about our school. If you know of any students wishing to start at Caves Beach PS in 2027, could you please advise them to contact the school office for further information.

Grow Your Mind

Another strength you can grow is LEADERSHIP

Showing LEADERSHIP means inspiring others by being respectful and confident in group situations in the classroom, on the playground or at home.

When we show LEADERSHIP we use our WISE OWL. This strength is important for our mental health because we feel proud when we inspire someone.

You can display LEADERSHIP by:

  • being fair when deciding what to do as a group and listening to each person
  • coming up with a game and organizing others to play in a respectful way

Set yourself a ‘LEADERSHIP’ challenge today!

Environmental Group

Watch Us Grow

Last term, Stage 1 students explored how living things change and grow. Our young scientists planted their own seeds in the soil and patiently waited for beans to grow. Students observed their beans closely as tiny roots and shoots began to appear, learning what plants need to grow and how living things change over time.

Learning and Support

What is Communication?

Communication is one of the most important skills children can develop. It helps them express themselves, build friendships, solve problems, and succeed at school and beyond. In this newsletter series, we’ll share practical tips to help you support your child’s communication skills at home.

Mastering Active Listening: The Key to Effective Communication

Active listening means giving your full attention when your child speaks. Try to listen without interrupting and show interest with eye contact or a smile. This encourages children to share their thoughts and builds trust.

  • Make eye contact while listening

  • Avoid interrupting your child

  • Show you care with smiles or nods

Band

Welcome back to another jam-packed term of music making!

Band camp is next week, Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th October. Camp will play a pivotal role in preparations for band fest plus will be our first opportunity to join as a combined band, allowing some wonderful peer mentoring to occur across the group.

There are still a few families who have not returned the transport and medication note, please do this ASAP so carpooling and meal ordering to the venue can be completed.

A reminder note for camp details will be sent home at band this week, including what to bring and wear. Students are encouraged to have a band shirt for the final performance, but a normal school shirt is also ok. A band shirt will be required for Band fest in week 6.

We have a few extra events this term, please save the date for:

Band Camp – Week 3 – Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th October

Band fest – Week 6 – Monday 16th November – Mallet Group - morning only

P&C News

📣 WE REALLY DO NEED YOU! 💙💛

Our Caves Beach Public School P&C is run by parents and carers who volunteer their time to help make our school community the best it can be. From fundraising and school events to purchasing equipment, resources and those little extras for our kids — our P&C makes a real difference. 🫶

As we head towards the end of the year, all P&C positions will need to be filled for 2027, including:

💙 President 💛 Vice President 1 💙 Vice President 2 💛 Treasurer 💙 Secretary 💛 General Committee Members

⚠️ Why does this matter?

If these positions aren't filled, the P&C will be unable to continue and, unfortunately, that means no P&C-run events in 2027.

That puts some of our much-loved events at risk, including our Mother’s Day Stall & Breakfast, Father’s Day Stall & Breakfast, Colour Fun Run, Discos, Easter and Christmas raffles and other fundraising and community events. 🎁🌈🪩

And it’s about so much more than events! Over the years, P&C fundraising and support has helped provide things such as air conditioning, books and learning resources, Playground equipment contributions, sporting equipment and uniforms, Healthy Harold, Drum Corps, contributions towards students attending state-level events, and more. 💙

You don't need special experience to get involved. Whether you can take on a position, join as a general committee member, help at events or simply contribute when you can — small contributions really do make a big difference.

We would LOVE to see some new faces get involved and help keep our P&C going strong for our kids and our school. 💛
